OVERVIEW :
The Resident Services Coordinator (RSC) position requires a high level of motivation and genuine concern for families and the community.
The RSC will be responsible for the implementation of Individual Service Plans that assist families in achieving their personal and employment-related goals.
RSC are responsible for providing support that will ultimately ensure residents maintain self-sufficiency.
HOU works in a diverse range of affordable and mixed-income public and subsidized housing and specializes in assisting tenants and residents that are in transition due to major redevelopment, renovation, or renovation-in-place construction projects in their communities.
HOU's mission is to ensure that residents are treated fairly and experience minimum physical and emotional stress during the relocation process while ensuring that our clients' projects are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Meet (through office and home visits) and establish working relationships with all heads of households in the community and residents of all ages to negotiate and develop Individualized Services Plans.
- Connect residents to appropriate job readiness or technical trainings, educational opportunities, and community resources.
- Complete housing assessments with residents.
- Assist residents with housing recertification.
- Serve as a liaison between the youth, their families, schools, and other service providers.
- Collaborate with local agencies, schools, and organizations to provide a network of support.
- Facilitate group activities and workshops focusing on life skills, career development, peer relationships, or mental health.
- Follow-up with clients and agencies as appropriate to document use / success of referral.
- Provide support to other programs and activities as needed.
- Participate in weekly and monthly meetings and provide regular caseload progress reports to Director of Resident Services and or other team members .
- Attend case management meetings with agencies serving families on caseload, as necessary.
- Assist with flyering communication to residents.
- Advocate on residents' behalf to training / educational programs, and other resources available in the community
- Participate in all required meetings and staff training opportunities.
- Input and maintain accurate and complete data for all residents in efforts and outcomes in One Drive.
- Participate in community engagement events during the week and weekends (if necessary)
- Transport families to various events and activities throughout the year in the community van.
- Bilingual Spanish speaking a plus.
- All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- BSW / MSW, three years or related academic qualifications preferred
- Experience working collaboratively with low-income families with a minimum of 3 years of work experience in human services or related field
- Problem-solving and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of community resources and social services.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- A strong sense of respect for confidentiality involving both clients and fellow employees
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs, work in adverse weather conditions, and stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to walk up to 4 miles per day and ascend up to four flights of stairs at a time.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
