Associate Director, Jeffrey S. Gould Alumni and Student Success Welcome Center
Position Summary
Reporting to the Senior Director for Student Success, this position will oversee and provide leadership within the Office of Student Success for programming, outreach, and communications in support of the Jeffrey S.
Gould Alumni and Student Success Welcome Center. Working closely with colleagues in University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR), the Associate Director will lead a team to drive alumni and student engagement and relationships, especially for student populations that could benefit most from an increased sense of community and belonging at the university.
The Associate Director will work with the team in Student Success to understand factors that affect student retention, satisfaction, and belonging and create opportunities for networking, mentorship, personal growth and development.
The position will develop and implement strategic processes and initiatives designed to foster student success while fully supporting the mission, vision, and values of New York University.
The position will play a vital role in supporting the University’s retention and graduation goals.
Qualifications
Required Education : Bachelor's Degree.

Preferred Education : Master's Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or related field.
Required Experience : 3+ years progressively responsible professional experience in enrollment management, alumni relations, student affairs, and / or student success-related areas in a higher education environment administering programs and or services.
Experience in supervising staff.
Preferred Experience : 3+ years experience leading teams that enhance alumni and student engagement to drive student success outcomes.
- Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities : Broad understanding of student services; Experience developing and measuring interventions to address barriers to student engagement, success and belonging;
- General knowledge of the range of student development and retention theories and the means by which to assess those theories in practice;
- An understanding of the current research, including promising practices in student success and retention, student-alumni mentorship, student transition and development, behavioral science, and community and belonging in order to positively affect key goals and outcomes;
- An understanding of the factors impacting student retention, satisfaction, belonging, and graduation, and the ability to use that understanding to recommend, develop, implement and assess practical interventions and process improvements are essential to success in this role;
- Proven ability to work across complex organizations to achieve key priorities and outcomes; Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills;
Ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of audiences including students and their families, alumni, advisors, faculty and other administrators.
