Salary

SALARY : The hourly rate for this position is $20.50.

This position offers a strong opportunity for growth.

Work hours : This position is limited to a maximum of 944 hours in a fiscal year.

Position Summary

The Monmouth Vicinage is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented individual to work on an hourly basis (approximately 15 to 18 hours per week) in the Civil Division Arbitration Program. Under the general direction of a Court Executive 2b or designee, this position will :

  • enter data into the automated case management system and schedule arbitration events;
  • prepare calendars, sign-in sheets, vouchers and materials for arbitration sessions;
  • report outcomes; enter follow-up information on spreadsheets and deliver materials for further processing;
  • monitor arbitration sessions; ensure that parties and arbitrators flow in and out of the arbitration rooms and receive assistance with copies of papers;
  • handle telephone communications and coordinate access to the team leader or a judge to conduct the sessions;
  • receive and respond to questions on judiciary policies and procedures including program eligibility requirements;
  • review correspondence and data processing output for accuracy and process mail;
  • type correspondence and / or legal documents; and
  • perform related duties as required.

If additional position(s) become available in other divisions within 5 months of the closing date of this recruitment, the applicant pool from this recruitment may be used to fill any future positions.

Experience and Qualifications

  • EXPERIENCE : One year of experience performing a variety of clerical and support services to include keyboarding and one or more of the following : document or information processing, handling payments for fees, recording monies received, reconciling balances or accounts and / or scheduling meetings or appointments.
  • Physical Ability : For some positions, applicants must have the ability to perform work which requires climbing and prolonged standing, stretching, bending and reaching. The selected candidate must be able to frequently lift and carry supplies weighing from 30 to 50 pounds and, occasionally, materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Driver's License : Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
  • Authorization to Work : US citizenship is not required. Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.
  • Special Note : Newly hired employees must agree to a thorough background check that will include fingerprinting. All data received will be kept in strict confidence except to inform the individual of the findings and what action will be taken as a result of this information.
  • Residency Law : In accordance with N.J.S.A. 52 : 14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70), the New Jersey First Act, all persons newly hired by the Judiciary within one year must establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey. Any person may request an exemption from that requirement from the Employee Residency Review Committee in the Department of Labor & Workforce Development on the basis of either hardship or employer critical need.

The Administrative Office of the Courts provides technical assistance, operational support, training, research and development, budget and personnel coordination, and development and operation of information systems for the Courts of New Jersey.
