Exciting new fully remote contract position for a Network Engineerwith an established firm. There are two positions open for this role on the team.
You will join a growing team of talented engineers responsible for supporting network refreshes and upgrades for 122 Hospitals and Clinics nationally.
Primary technologies supported include Cisco products (specifically Cisco Nexus, Cisco Wireless) and Palo Alto firewalls.
Experience with automation scripting (. Python, VBA, Google App Scripting) experience would be extremely beneficial due to current automation initiatives.
Previous experience in healthcare supporting hospital systems is highly preferred.
This is a contract to hire opportunity so looking for candidates that are looking for a long-term home and will fit in well with an extremely close, supportive, and cohesive team of 20 network engineers.

Required Skills & Experience
- Extensive hands-on experience with Cisco products including Cisco Wireless with a strong understanding of wireless design and coverage.
- 7+ years of experience with Cisco Route Switch and Wireless infrastructure.
- Experience or understanding of Cisco Nexus platform.
- 5-7 years of experience with WAN System Design and Integration.
- 5-7 years of experience in large complex project oversight.
- Previous experience in healthcare supporting hospital systems (highly preferred).
- Established understanding of network connectivity and protocols.
- Experience with datacenter and MDF / IDF closet construction design (cabling, racks, power, cooling).
- 5-7 years of experience with vendor management.
- Proven abilities in problem management, process analysis and root cause analysis is required.
- Excellent judgment in determining work and problem resolution priorities and approaches.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities, schedule and meet deadlines in a past paced work environment is required.
- CCNA or CCNP Certification (preferred)
- BA or BS in Computer Science, Technology, or Business discipline or equivalent experience is required.
What You Will Be Doing
Daily Responsibilities
With oversight from the Principal Network Engineer and Management, initiate and facilitate strategic planning activities (capacity planning, process improvement, maintenance, upgrade and end-of-life planning, roadmap development) for over 100 Hospital and Clinic facilities across the US.
Primary networking technologies that will be supported include Cisco products (specifically Cisco Nexus, Cisco Wireless) and Palo Alto firewalls.
25% travel is required to Hospital and Clinic sites to support complex cases.
Provides advice, guidance and expertise to promote adoption of methods and tools and adherence to policies and standards.
Evaluates and selects appropriate methods and tools in line with agreed policies and standards. Implements methods and tools at project and team level including selection and tailoring in line with agreed standards.
Identify automation opportunities and implement scripted solutions.
Manages reviews of the benefits and value of methods and tools. Identifies and recommends improvements.
Contributes to organizational policies, standards, and guidelines for methods and tools.
Leads the assessment, analysis, planning and design of release packages, including assessment of risk.
Conducts post release reviews.
Ensures release processes and procedures are applied and that releases can be rolled back as needed.
Identifies, evaluates and manages the adoption of appropriate release and deployment tools, techniques and processes (including automation).
Coordinates and manages planning of the system and / or acceptance tests.
Takes responsibility for integrity of testing and acceptance activities and coordinates the execution of these activities.
Provides advice and guidance on any aspect of test planning and execution. Identifies process improvements and contributes to corporate testing standards and definition of best practice.
Demonstrates creativity and takes initiative in problem solving. Resolves or facilitates resolution of complex problems for assigned program.
Project assignments are large in scope and are highly complex.
Provides escalation support to Tier 1 and 2 network engineers.
Perform daily production support activities.
Lead projects associated to the enhancement, upgrade / patching, or implementation of new or existing technology solutions.
Coordinate implementation and support efforts between Technology Infrastructure, Real Estate, and Facilities teams.
Provide oversight and facilitation of IT change management process as it applies to the Network Engineering team.
Perform crisis management during high-severity operational incidents.
Design, implement and maintain a comprehensive monitoring and alerting process across all IT platforms.
Build new test and production environments on existing or new hardware as required.
Identify technical innovation and process improvement opportunities.
Utilize standard tools and methodology to develop system and support performance metrics.
