Job Description
Mechanic for our Repair Center is responsible for the tear down, inspection, evaluation and final assembly of mining related equipment such as gear boxes, motors, pinions, pumps, vibration screens, etc.
The Mechanic will ensure final assembly, in addition to completing all associated records and correct maintenance action forms.
The successful candidate must ensure that all operating procedures are carried out in such a way as to be compliant with company specifications, all Health, Safety, and Environmental (legal) requirements and customer satisfaction.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Helps keep Repair Center management apprised of assembly status and escalates issues to Repair Center Manager as may be appropriate.
Determine and establish methods and working processes for the most specialized and complex jobs.
Control the quality of all work done and effectively communicate with QA / QC Personnel.
Formulate all working procedures used for optimizing the quality of work and efficiency. Consults with fellow employees, contractors, and consultants to resolve maintenance issues and / or develop ways to improve equipment utilization and efficiencies.
Performs minor and major repair of projects received at the Repair Center to include all facets of large and small mining machinery.
Maintains assembly equipment to ensure best reliability and performance.
Maintains assembly equipment records including illustrations, engineering drawings, equipment manuals and best practice procedures.
Participate in Company strategies, targets, and other initiatives that relate to Health and Safety, Operation, or Employee well-being, as defined by management.
Willing to up-grade qualifications with courses and training.
Must be reliable and display attention to detail.
Completes required work and safety reports.
Maintain good housekeeping practices.
Observe all safety and general plant rules.
Perform other duties as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Reads and understands English language (alpha and numeric) sufficient to read and understand requisitions, drawings, and engineering specifications.
Observes safety regulations and exhibits a high concern for safety.
Possesses intermediate math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, decimals and fractions, geometry) for measurement, testing and problem resolution.
Ability to read and understand shop drawings and welding details, set up and adjust welding equipment to fabricate assemblies within tolerances required.
Must have knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, use, repair, and maintenance; knowledge of design techniques and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
Prior repair experience with mining process equipment.
Basic knowledge of destructive and non-destructive tests.
Ability to analyze situations and problems, ability to detect technical discrepancies.
Ability to use precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, pi tapes, scales, etc. proficiently.
Ability to use hydraulic pullers and presses for disassembly and assembly work.
Understand mechanics of precision bearings, bushings, gearing as well as heating and cooling of components for disassembly and assembly of work.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Bends, stoops, crouches, twists, leans, reaches, picks up and lifts raw materials of various weights and of various lengths.
Lifts up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently.
Demonstrates manual dexterity sufficient to properly operate welding and related machines.
Visual acuity to operate machines where the job is at or within arm’s reach.
Utilizes oral communication to convey detailed or important instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
Able to wear safety apparatus / clothing when required.
Perceives the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels. Receives detailed information through oral communication.
Position requires work both inside and outside the building in various weather conditions.
This position requires repetitive or periodic movement based upon demand for an order.
Ability to work additional hours as needed to meet customer demands, incuding weekends, holidays, alternate shifts.
