Main Purpose of Job
To maintain a clean, safe and hygienic environment for the physical and mental health of all patients, residents, and staff.
Per the Amended Directive and Order RegardingVaccination (MDH # issued by the Secretary of the MarylandDepartment of Health, effective April 18, 2023, staff in all hospitals andresidential facilities operated by the Maryland Department of Health or anylocal health department are required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
Staff includes, but is not limited to, regular and contractual employees,contractual staff, volunteers, and other state employees performing any dutiesat the facility.
An individual may request an accommodation by providingappropriate and sufficient documentation for bona fide medical or religiousreasons.
POSITION DUTIES
- Collects, recycles and disposes of trash and other items
- Cleans floors, halls and stairways
- waxes and buffs floors and stairways
- Shampoos and vacuums rugs, carpets and upholstered furniture
- Cleans and disinfects restrooms and replaces supplies
- Dusts, cleans and makes minor repairs to furniture
- Loads and unloads supplies and equipment from trucks, moves office furniture and equipment and sets up chairs and tables for meetings and special events
- Inspects and replaces filters, bags and other supplies on environmental services equipment as appropriate
- Cleans windows and walls
- Prepares routine inventory and supply reports and maintains work records
- Perform terminal cleaning of patient / resident rooms upon vacancy of room
- Cleaning beds and high touch areas
- Disinfecting facility areas to include rooms, dayrooms, offices, etc.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees appointed to positions in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle.
Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Employees in this classification may be subject to call-in 24 hours a day and, therefore, may be required to provide the employing agency with a telephone number where they can be reached.
