This position is responsible for the preparation and monitoring of the program’s food service plan.
Responsibilities
- Prepares healthy and nutritious meals in accordance with the agency’s four-week cycle menu and in accordance with the USDA / US Food Code / NY Subpart -1.
- Maintains an inventory of required food service supplies that are necessary for the day-to-day operation of the program.
- Orders all food service supplies.
- Ensures compliance with OSHA standards, including using personal protective equipment, completing material safety data sheets, and more.
- Actively works with the agency’s Director of Food Services to ensure that all residents’ dietary needs are being met.
- Conducts daily inspections of the kitchen to ensure compliance with all safety and sanitary standards.
- Ensures that all safety-related systems, such as fire extinguishers and kitchen suppression systems, are working properly.
- Prepares, serves, and cleans up after the program’s meals.
- Teaches cooking procedures to residents and oversees their implementation afterwards.
- Monitors temperatures of foods and all food service equipment
Requirements
- Two years’ experience in settings whose operations are similar to community residences
- Must possess a valid New York State driver’s license.
Managers ServSafe certification or obtained within 6 months of hire
Working primarily day shifts, Monday through Friday.
