Summary :
The Plant Engineer coordinates engineering activities related to implementing new maintenance processes and revising existing maintenance processes.
This position provides engineering assistance and works with employees working on various projects. The position performs predictive and preventative maintenance activities and equipment repair.
The Plant Engineer depending on the circumstances may be required to work a schedule on weekends, holidays, off-shift, and even stay after shift.
What you’ll be contributing :
Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
Coordinates and works with others to plan, survey design, write specifications, and obtain contractors to implement new and revise existing maintenance processes.
Supervises and inspects the work of contractors on projects.
Assists plant management in planning and preparing capital expenditure proposals and budgets.
Assists in the purchase of plant equipment by communicating and negotiating with vendors.
Plans and coordinates testing and inspections of plant equipment such as large gearing, kilns, mills, and Preheater Equipment.
Works management to coordinate predictive maintenance activities such as oil analysis, vibration analysis, thermos testing, and ultrasound inspections.
Coordinates efforts to store drawings, new equipment drawings, and equipment manuals in a centralized location.
Provides mechanical, civil, structural, and electrical assistance.
Performs and supervises computer-aided design (CAD) performance to prepare designs and drawings of equipment systems and process projects.
Directs and evaluates engineering activities performed by outside engineering firms.
Coordinates with managers in planning major projects and plant shutdown repairs and maintenance activities.
Promotes plant safety and ensures compliance with all applicable safety standards and regulations.
Uses the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) Avantis to assist with tracking and planning maintenance activities.
Writes up Standard Job Plans & Job Safety Analyses on specific jobs.
Works with management staff to plan modifications and improvements of equipment and structures to improve efficiency.
Provides technical assistance to maintenance crew.
Works with the Reliability Team and assists with improving the reliability of equipment.
Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
To succeed in this position, you will need :
Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
Minimum 4 Year / Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, structural, civil, or electrical engineering preferred.
Preferred Other in Professional Engineer (PE)
Preferred 2 years in Mechanical, structural, civil, or electrical engineering, or related engineering positions in a heavy industry
Ability to make decisions and solve problems with high attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to perform, organize and prioritize work independently
Ability to collaborate and build a team
Proficient in English written, verbal communication, and listening skills.
Knowledge of government regulations such as the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) as they apply to maintenance projects and repair activities.
Knowledge of maintenance and repair required by cement plant equipment and structures.
Knowledge of conveyors, alternating current / direct current (AC / DC) motors, fans, hydraulic systems, and electrical distribution systems.
Proficient in Microsoft Office365 Excel, Project, Access, CAD, CMMS software, and computer applications
Ability to make sound independent judgments regularly
Ability to work under general supervision with standard practices and guidelines.
Ability to refer to supervisor with unusual problems or situations.
