American Tire Distributors (ATD) is seeking a strategic, experienced, energetic Manager, Community & Associate Engagement focusing on creating community within ATD and externally to drive our strategy for shared humanity.

This role requires an energetic, passionate, organized, creative and strategic thinker with strong experience developing and managing internal and external engagement programs.
As the Manger, Community & Associate Engagement, you will be responsible for associate and community engagement planning, content development and execution to bring to life the strategy and activation.
From strategy creation to event execution, this role will support activations and help amplify our CSI story internally and externally all while developing and building relationships with community partners, local leaders as well as ATD’s corporate and field leadership.
This role requires excellent communication skills, successful at collaborating in a matrix environment and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced culture.
Candidates should demonstrate an ability to work cross-functionally to lead community programs while also driving engagement strategy planning and execution.
A motivated self-starter who is able to proactively offer ideas and strategies with the ability to operate on a tactical, persistent, sustainable level.
This role has a high bar for communication, both verbal and written, paying high attention to detail to deliver high-quality content and actionable information for all stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities :
Responsible for helping to develop national, Hometown and local region Community Social Impact strategy through intentional relationship development with groups such as nonprofits, schools, community members, influencers, media, networking groups and business leaders.
Responsible for driving execution of CSI events in the communities ATD serves across North America to amplify the ATD brand for all stakeholders.
Responsible for partnering with events support to bring local-market associate and community experiences to life to promote ATD’s brand while making a difference in our communities.
Will partner with internal communications team and PR agency to ensure consistency of CSI message internally and externally, building understanding and excitement about ATD’s CSI work.
Will partner with Associate Engagement Architect to plan and drive meaningful, engaging activations with associates’ company-wide, always focused on our people-first culture.
Establish an engagement communications content strategy and plans in partnership with peers, project and leadership teams for organizational associate engagement initiatives.
Develop and schedule annual engagement calendar and activities that effectively support the people-first strategy.
Plan, edit and write content for a variety of internal communications mediums, such as a communication platform / intranet, quarterly magazine, regular email bulletin and other ATD owned channels.
You may also be required to work on the layout and design of content.
Identify and implement an appropriate mix of traditional and new media to influence positive audiences and drive engagement across the organization.
Continually raise the bar on development of compelling, data-driven storytelling with an associate focus.
Ensure all communications are aligned with corporate strategy and goals and exemplify the brand and voice’ of the organization to support organizational goals and our values through all communications.
Ensure internal communications messages are consistent across all mediums and for different departments of the organization, including consistency with external communication messages.
Maintain an asset library of pictures, video, quotes and associate interviews for use across engagement communications and events.
Support and help drive our Corporate Social Impact initiatives, including community impact by engaging with community partners and stakeholders, organizing impact activities, fundraising and volunteerism.
Advise leadership of developments and progress throughout the organization, either face to face or through regular written communication.
Monitor accuracy and timeliness of information distributed; respond to feedback from stakeholders and adjust communications content accordingly.
Measure and track the effectiveness of engagement initiatives, content and communications channels, as well as community impact activities and fundraising efforts making recommendations to adjust as appropriate.
What you bring to the table :
Community Social Impact strategy, programming development and execution skills : Strategic savviness to identify and develop relationships with relevant nonprofits, community organizations including leadership and members, influencers, media, networking groups and business leaders
Strategic skills : Ability to identify strategic communication opportunities about ATD’s community social impact. Think creatively and with agile, forward-thinking vision on how to answer requests and take on challenges in a way that will ultimately improve internal and external connection and loyalty to the ATD brand.
Writing skills : Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills as well as the journalistic ability to source stories from associates;
act as editor and brand champion for associate and community engagement communications.
Material development skills : Excellent PowerPoint, Word and Excel skills. You can whip up a PPT plan that’s as robust with information and ideas as it is attractive and error-free.
You need the creative ability to devise creative communication strategies, content and visual assets to support engagement initiatives.
Interpersonal skills : Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills to work with internal and external partners;
confidence to work with and present to senior executives.
Organizational skills : Ability to drive projects forward by staying on schedule; staying assertive and accountable for execution and ensuring message alignment and integration across channels.
Skills / Qualifications :
Minimum 5 years of experience developing, scaling and executing associate and community engagement programs for a large organization
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications, journalism, or similar experience
Strong experience in project management among multiple stakeholders
Ability to write for a variety of audiences, general journalistic or marketing experience
Exceptional knowledge of MS O365 Suite
Experience and knowledge in copywriting, proofreading and editing
Proficient command of English language
Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
Outstanding organizational, problem solving and time-management skills with the ability to excel in a fast-paced environment
Effective, persuasive written and verbal skills
High degree of comfort working with all levels of associates and community leaders
Detail oriented with excellent follow-through skills
Ability to organize and prioritize tactical work while thinking strategically about projects deliverables and deadlines
Occasional travel to company or community events or meetings as needed
