A DAY IN THE LIFE
As a key member of the team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including :
Develop and implement systems / structures for the compliance of highly complex Federal / Department of Defense (DOD) programs.
Create and improve processes and procedures to enhance the initiation, execution and final project delivery.
- Plan, manage, and lead the full lifecycle of activities for the successful execution and delivery of federal capital projects and coordinate with external and internal stakeholders.
- Work closely with various functional teams, ensuring program and project status is executed, tracked, monitored, and reported in accordance with the Federal / DOD program and contractual requirements.
- Act as primary point of contact and communication leader to Prime Contractors, project vendors and other external stakeholders on the project.
- Responsible for schedule, budget and expense control for projects and ensuring strategic alignment of projects to corporate objectives and customer needs / expectations.
- Monitor reports and schedules to ensure appropriate charging of labor hours, costs and expenses to projects.
- Monitor subconsultants’ progress and performance, reviews and approve invoices and resolve payment and project disputes.
- Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations.
- Learn and understand the highly technical products that we are delivering to our customers.
- Oversee the QA / QC procedures to ensure a best in class product.
- Coach, mentor, motivate, and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
- Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
- Be an integral part of our safety culture, approaching all aspects of work with a safety-first attitude.
- Builds, develops, and grows any business relationships vital to the success of the project.
- Participates in the development of best practices and tools for project execution and management.
- Determines the final testing and validation requirements of the systems installed in the field.
- Travels as needed, primarily domestically, to support the project team in the delivery of products to customers. Estimated travel is 25-30%.
Your Expertise And Skills
To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related engineering field including chemical, mechanical, civil, environmental, etc.
- 8 - 10 years of Federal capital project delivery work experience; ideally with 3-5 years direct work experience in a project management capacity, including all aspects of process development and execution.
- Professional Engineer Certification (PE) and Project Management Professional (PMP) desired but not required.
- Must be proficient in the following programs : MS Office and Google Suite, MS Project, AutoCAD, and ERP software (project controls / accounting)
