Job Description :
The successful candidate for this position will be enacting the university's vision for strengthening Mission and Catholic identity at Sacred Heart University.
Responsibilities Include :
- Provide oversight to liturgical celebrations and the coordination of mission-related programs and events among and for the campus community, as well as supporting strategies for the spiritual formation of campus community members.
- Strengthen and promote the Catholic identity of the University in ways that are engaging and transformative at all levels of the University community.
- Provide oversight to the Office of Volunteer Programs and Service Learning and Campus Ministry and University Chaplain.
- Develop partners throughout the university and be an integral part of decision making, strategic planning, and development efforts for the University community.
- Work with institutional leaders to promote student and alumni engagement that reflects the mission and values of the university, including ensuring accessibility to and participation in community-engaged learning for historically underrepresented students in higher education.
- Assume responsibility in the delivery and refinement of the Presidential Seminars and Faculty Conversations.
- Develop and implement programming for staff, administrators and trustees on the Catholic Intellectual Tradition and SHU's place within that living organic tradition.
- Support and promote the staff's strong ethic of teamwork and professional development.
- Collaborate on mission initiatives with the VP of Mission.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements :
Knowledge and Skills Needed :
- Master's degree required; graduate degree preferred in theology, Catholic studies, or other related field and 7 years previous work experience in related field.
- In-depth knowledge of the Catholic Intellectual Tradition, especially in its pedagogical, liturgical, ethical and anthropological implications.
- Experience implementing a strategic plan, including eliminating or adding programming or events, that is informed by systematic assessment and data.
- Creative and collaborative leader who brings leadership experience in communicating mission across multiple stakeholders.
- Previous work experience in higher education.
- Effective Communicator; excellent written and verbal skills; approachable, empathetic and a good listener.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to initiate, develop and sustain relationships with diverse stakeholders including community agencies, students, faculty, department chairs, deans, and professional staff.
- Ability to work collaboratively.
- Service oriented.
- Proficient use of social media sites and Microsoft office suite.
- May require evenings and weekend hours.
