Description
Position Summary : The Maintenance Staff member works as part of our overall SAY Maintenance team lead by the Maintenance Director.
They inspect / maintain the various equipment and facilities within the Summit Area YMCA. Performing any basic repairs or preventative maintenance when required.
They are also responsible to inspect the building's boiler every two hours while on duty.
Essential Functions :
- Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment.
- Inspect the building's boiler every 2 hours and properly log.
- Perform preventative maintenance.
- Handle basic repairs and maintenance.
- Oversee contractors when professional repairs are necessary.
- Diagnose mechanical issues and correct them.
- Repair machines, equipment or structures as necessary.
- Reports accidents / incidents / emergencies in accordance with SAY standard operating procedures with 24 hours to the Facilities Director.
- Set up furniture and equipment for meetings and classes.
- Assemble and move furniture within and outside of buildings.
- Assist in clean-up and removal of debris.
- Assists with association snow removal immediately from sidewalks, doors stoops, stairs, grounds, etc. as needed.
- Construct, paint, and decorate facility walls as requested.
- May assist in cleaning floors, walls, and windows.
- Use safety precautions in all maintenance services.
- Other duties as assigned by Maintenance Director or Executive Leadership.

Requirements
Qualifications :
- A High School Diploma or its equivalency is required.
- Proven maintenance experience for a minimum of 1 year.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Must be comfortable using technology such as email and "Facilities Dude" for maintenance reports and requests. Bilingual Plus.
- Experience working with the public is desirable.
- Skilled in use of hand and power tools.
- Ability to work with chemicals and solvents used in housekeeping, maintenance, and grounds keeping.
- Flexibility for evening and weekend hours if needed.
- Ability to take apart machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts.
- Ability to check blueprints, repair manuals or parts catalogs, as necessary.
- Ability to use common tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills and wrenches.
- Experience with precision measuring instruments or electronic testing devices.
- Experience performing routine maintenance.
- Strong organization and follow up skills.
- Eye for detail and precision.
- Ability to maintain focus while working individually.
- Strong time management skills.

- Ensure all members and guests sign in when entering the YMCA. All waivers are current. Ensure the program area is safe for staff, members and children.
- If I witness another staff person breaking company policies, I will report it to my Supervisor immediately.
- Staff must complete an incident report for all incidents and / or accidents for children, members, guests and staff and submit report to Supervisor at the end of their shift.
- Contact Supervisor immediately when 911 calls are made.
- Understand and implement the Emergency Action Plan in relevant situations.
