Johns Hopkins University supports a flexible work model that includes four different work modalities. This role has a hybrid work arrangement with an onsite presence of 3 days per week.
The manager will confirm the team's core onsite days where the majority / all team members will work in the office. Employees who travel on university business can count those days towards their onsite days.
The Financial Project Manager will play a pivotal role in managing and overseeing financial projects, analytics, and internal reporting for Development and Alumni Relations.
This role aims to support the effective and efficient use of financial resources in managing budgets, forecasting financial needs, and providing strategic financial insights to support the department's fundraising and alumni engagement initiatives.
The Financial Project Manager will oversee two Budget Analysts and report to the Senior Financial Manager.
Key responsibilities :
Financial Planning and Analysis :
- Develop and manage budgets for various projects and initiatives within Development and Alumni Relations.
- Conduct financial analysis to support fundraising campaigns, events, and programs.
- Prepare financial forecasts and projections to inform strategic planning and decision-making.
Project Management :
- Plan, execute, and oversee financial projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and budget.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, set project timelines, and allocate resources effectively.
- Monitor project progress and adjust plans as necessary to ensure successful outcomes.
- Conduct ROI and benchmarking analysis.
Reporting and Compliance :
- Generate detailed dashboards and financial reports for senior management, and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with university policies, donor requirements, and relevant financial regulations.
- Conduct regular audits and reviews of financial processes to maintain accuracy and integrity.
Stakeholder Collaboration :
- Work closely with the various departments to align financial goals with DAR objectives and constraints.
- Liaise with departments and divisions to provide financial support and guidance.
- Partner with the Divisional Business Office to ensure cohesive financial management and reporting.
Process Improvement :
- Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes and improve efficiency within the department.
- Implement best practices in financial management and project execution.
- Utilize financial software and tools to enhance project management and reporting capabilities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field.
- 5 years related experience.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or Certified Financial Analyst preferred. Additional qualifications and designations are a plus (such as Certified Project Manager).
- Expert proficiency with financial software and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, financial modeling software, project management software).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Knowledge of fundraising and alumni relations practices is a plus.
