Utilize your experience in payroll as a Payroll Specialist for Bray Controls, a subsidiary of Bray International, Inc. In this dynamic role, you will oversee various payroll functions.

Our U.S.-based team is expanding rapidly, and our HR / Payroll team is introducing new technologies, processes, and practices to accommodate this growing employee base.

Position Summary : As a Payroll Specialist at Bray Controls, you will play a critical role in managing payroll functions for our growing U.

S.-based team. This position is integral to our HR / Payroll team's efforts in implementing new technologies and processes to support our expanding employee base.

Location : Houston, Texas

Onsite - 5 days a week

Key Responsibilities :

  • Process Corporate payroll and other designated payrolls weekly and bi-weekly.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and documents in compliance with record retention laws.
  • Audit and reconcile files from UKG each pay period and annually as required.
  • Handle payroll inquiries and maintain professional communication with employees and managers.
  • Track accrued time off according to company policies.
  • Manage wage garnishments such as child support and tax levies.
  • Ensure payroll registration and state tax setup for out-of-state payrolls.
  • Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reports as required by government agencies, providers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Update contribution changes, loan stops / starts, and provide support for 401K audits and reporting.
  • Maintain accurate employee information in the HRB system, including tax exemptions, transfers, terminations, pay rate changes, direct deposit, and pay card enrollments.
  • Understand and apply payroll actions in compliance with payday laws.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for payroll and timekeeping processes.
  • Create and maintain documentation of payroll practices and procedures in a payroll desk manual.

Qualifications and Core Competencies :

  • Strong communication skills and problem-solving ability.
  • Expertise in payroll laws and regulations at federal and state levels, or willingness to acquire.
  • Knowledge of garnishment regulations and priorities.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet strict deadlines, and maintain confidentiality of payroll records.
  • High level of independence and ability to thrive in a fast-paced payroll environment.

Skills / Qualifications :

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of full-cycle payroll processing experience.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification required.
  • Experience with UKG (UltiPro) highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with processing special pays (e.g., commissions, bonuses, stock options) and multi-state payroll.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
