Job Description

The role of a z / OS system programmer is highly complex and demands expertise in various aspects of the system. While the responsibilities can differ between installations, they typically involve installing, customizing, and maintaining the operating system.

In larger z / OS environments, system programmers often specialize in specific tasks.

Generally, system programmers are tasked with managing the mainframe hardware configuration and ensuring the operating system is installed, customized, and maintained.

They ensure that the system and its services are available and functioning to meet service-level agreements. For installations operating 24 / 7, careful planning is required to minimize disruptions to operational activities.

Required Skills & Experience

• At least 10 years of experience as a zOS Systems Programmer leading projects and making critical and complex decisions.
• Experience with z / OS Parallel Sysplex and Coupling Facility environments.
• TSO / ISPF / SDSF / JCL
• Disaster Recovery
• General knowledge and understanding the mainframe hardware, software, processors, etc.
• HMC skills.
• SMP / E
• Storage (DASD and virtual tape systems)
• Experience with CF2, z / OS UNIX, HCD, WLM, Sysview, Various Performance Tools, Storge SMS, Datacom DB, Catalog Management, Capacity Planning for zOS
