- Job Summary :
The professional practice and development specialist under the leadership of the Nursing Education and Professional Development Manager serves as an educator, consultant, facilitator, change agent, and leader provides staff development expertise.
Their role is to support the development of clinical nurses and promote empowerment, knowledge, and nursing excellence through evidence-based nursing practice.
The specialist addresses individualized educational needs using the nursing process to plan and implement competency assessments, learning, continuing education, and leadership development.
The specialist's activities include onboarding / orientation, competency management, education, professional role development, career coaching, and collaborative partnerships.
These efforts align with the mission, vision, and values of CalvertHealth and the Department of Nursing.
- Education :
- Master's degree in clinical nursing or nursing education or related field preferred
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Registration / Certification / Licensure :
- Registered Nurse Certification; State Licensure
- Achieve professional certification within 12 months of eligibility
- Experience :
- 3 years progressive leadership experience required
- 5 years of relevant clinical experience
- Staff development or continuing education experience preferred
- Other Requirements :
- Maintains unit-specific and hospital competencies, mandatory learning, and any clinical certifications required in accordance with the Staff Education and Training policy GA-057 and / or any other department requirements.
- Demonstrates a high level of clinical competence.
- Effective interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication.
- Advanced computer skills.
