The primary result expected from the CNC Machine Operator is to operate various CNC machines to precisely trim components that are manufactured on the plastics rotation molding or vacuum forming machines.
This position will also be responsible for set up of the CNC machine and communicating machine errors that result in product defects.
The primary result expected from the Advanced Secondary position is to transform the roto-molded plastics parts into finished goods as designated under the direction of operations leadership and by following work instructions.
The Advanced Secondary position will be responsible for operating power tools to ensure that the finished part meets customer and quality standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Set ups and runs the CNC machines
- Verifies product quality using established standards, specifications, and work instructions
- Records various production and quality data
- Acquires, moves, and maintains stores of components and materials required in work area
- Moves finish product to designated locations
- Follows all applicable safety, quality, and manufacturing standards
- Actively participates in applicable lean and other employee involvement activities
- Operates power tools including, but not limited to, routers, flame torches, power drills, band saws, and drill presses.
- Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the Shift Supervisor.
- Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
- Keeps a record of finished parts and is responsible for moving finished parts to the correct locations.
- Safely works at a pace that meets company expectations e.g., parts per hour or minutes per part as quoted to customer specifications.
- Accepts and receives frequent supervision and assistance regarding the completion of finished parts.

PREFERRED and REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Education : High School diploma or GED equivalent
Experience and / or Training : Prior experience running a CNC machine and making minor adjustments to G code is preferred
Licenses / Certificates : None required
Technology / Equipment : Demonstrated knowledge in the use of current technology, Microsoft office products, and other manufacturing software
PHYSICAL and MENTAL DEMANDS :
- This position is required to constantly walk and stand
- It is necessary for this position to frequently climb stairs throughout the day
- Frequent stooping, bending, squatting, crouching, or reaching above the shoulders may be required
- Able to focus and work at a continuous pace for extended periods of time
- 15 to 25 lbs. frequent lifting
- 20 to 40 lbs. occasional lifting
- Manual dexterity is required to perform normal day to day functions
- Must have the ability to work with and around others
- Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment

WORKING ENVIRONMENT :
The main working environment for this position is the standard manufacturing plant environment.
The plant environment is climate controlled in some areas, however, will include exposure to heat and hot surfaces, cold, noise and odors.
Personal protective equipment is required in appropriate areas. There may also be intermittent exposure to fumes, moving mechanical parts and tool vibration.
