DIRECTV is seeking a Lead Design Researcher. This expert in their functional area (Formative and / or Evaluative) will have had great success in their skill set and are ready to lead a cross-functional group, offering insights to better the product and drive process and innovation.
The Lead is aware and savvy about the greater team’s research and design roles, responsibilities, and projects, and can swiftly bring together teams where synergy is necessary.
The Lead Design Researcher drives their projects to meet customer, business, and design vision goals while building up their skills, gently mentoring and guiding people, their time, and their own career goals.
Here's what you’ll do :
- Apply human behavior principles and methodologies to research problems to design the best customer experience.
- Develop user-experience research plans, collect data, moderate design testing sessions, facilitate workshops with internal and external stakeholders, and deliver research reports based on an understanding of how to interpret design principles and standards to evaluate effective designs.
- Conduct independent research.
- Manage multiple large-scale projects simultaneously through other researchers in addition to independent research studies.
- Manage communication with the organization and develop plans to increase adoption of research findings.
- Evaluate research tools and ongoing industry trends to influence the direction the team should be taking to drive effective research practices.
What you’ll need to be successful :
- Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Cognitive Science, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in UX research, with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in both formative and evaluative research methodologies.
- Working knowledge of both primary and secondary research methods and practices, and familiarity with both qualitative and quantitative analysis methods.
- Proven track record of leading complex research projects and driving impact through actionable insights.
- Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and product development processes.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate research findings to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and influence product decisions through research insights.
- Experience mentoring junior researchers and contributing to team growth and development.
- Familiarity with design thinking methodologies and ability to facilitate design workshops.
- Strong project management skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in using research and analysis tools (., UserTesting, Qualtrics, SPSS, NVivo).
- Experience with or willingness to learn advanced research techniques such as eye-tracking, biometrics, or longitudinal studies.
- May require a background check due to job duties requiring routine access to DIRECTV and DIRECTV customer’s proprietary data.

The Base Salary range displayed below reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for each of DIRECTV's 4 (four) US Labor Market Zones.
Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
DIRECTV WAGE ZONES ($105,830 - $192,050)
Low (N1) : $105,830 - $158,650
Mid (N2) : $111,400 - $167,000
High (N3) : $122,540 - $183,700
Top (N4) : $128,110 - $192,050
Please note that the salary ranges reflect base salary only and do not include bonus or benefits - when you consider all of these together, it represents a pretty impressive total compensation package.
