Position Summary

Position is responsible for evaluating and treating patients within the Washington University Eye Center. Travel between multiple clinic locations required.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and treats patients including : refractive exams; contact lens fitting and dispensing; emergency exams; evaluation and management of medical diseases of the eye.
  • Discusses and interprets findings with patients and suggests appropriate remedy.
  • Adheres to established compliance guidelines to include those governing the appropriate coding of patient services and diagnoses.
  • Adheres to established quality, safety and hazardous material procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the director of ophthalmology.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of current state and federal regulations affecting optometry practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement standards of accuracy and judgement required.

Required Qualifications

  • Licensed Doctor of Optometry in the state of Missouri and / or Illinois, depending on work location.
  • Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements).

Grade

Salary Range

$104,200.00 - $161,400.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
