Some of what you'll be doing :

As a Capital Project Manager IV, you will manage technically complex multi-component projects of significant size and scope or are a major part of a large capital construction program.

This position will be for the Baggage Project Management team that is looking for project management experience at an airport, complex building mechanical systems and baggage or conveyor systems.

  • You will assist contractor in coordinating with the Port and State of WA, or other outside agencies, regarding permits, inspections, testing, and Certificates of Occupancy, ensuring timely access to various locations at the airport for site investigations.
  • You will monitor subcontractor outreach and pre-qualification and any trade bidding that might take place prior to setting Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) or Maximum Allowable Construction Cost (MACC).
  • You will develop, negotiate and manage highly complex consultant contracts, budgets, schedules for design and construction.
  • You will participate in the development of new or revised operational policies, procedures, initiatives, and performance measures related to capital projects.
  • You will present projects to Senior Managers, Investment Committee, and Commission at each stage of approval and provide project status reports.
  • You will act as expert advisor and provide technical and professional consultation to business units and Port leadership on issues related to assigned projects.
  • You will formulate strategic communication plan to respond to the public and other government entities on controversial, politically sensitive or complicated funding, technical, and permitting issues.
  • You will represent the Port in complex negotiations with local, federal and state agencies; tenants, and affected communities.

Who you are :

  • Experienced You have six (6) years of construction project management experience, to include (2) years of supervisory / lead / mentor experience including leading a project or process.
  • Desired We hope you have a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, Business Administration or Environmental Science and any of the following certifications / licenses : Project Management Professional (PMP), Professionals Engineer (PE), Registered Architect (RA), and / or Certified Construction Manager (CCM).

We hope you have experience in baggage / conveyor projects.

Project / Program Manager You are an expert of project principles, engineering and architectural practices and procedures, and managing multiple project budgets and schedules.

You are also an expert of federal, state, and local regulatory agencies and related regulations, guidelines, and procedures as they relate to capital construction projects.

  • Politically Savvy You have the ability to present and explain program / project information that may be controversial or politically sensitive.
  • Effective Communicator You possess both strong written and verbal skills including the ability to negotiate and present to varying audiences.

Your interpersonal communication skills allow you work with a diverse group of sponsors and stakeholders.

Relationship Builder You have well-developed conflict resolution and facilitation skills including working effectively with people at all levels of the organization and elected officials.

What else you need to know :

  • Work Schedule Your normal work schedule will be Monday Friday, 8 : 00 : 00 (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role.
  • Work Environment - This work will take place in a hybrid / in-office setting at Management’s discretion.
  • Washington State Residency Requirement Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle.

If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.

  • Safety Requirements You will be required to comply with all work rules, safety, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Security Requirements As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance. You will also be required to obtain a (CBP) Customs Seal within 30 days of hire.
