Starting Salary Range $102,744 - $139,788

Job Summary : The Director, Airside Operations is responsible for providing leadership of the airport operations Airside division.

This position performs leadership, mentorship, work planning, directing, supervising and reviewing the work of Airside Operations personnel.

Responsibilities include ensuring Part 139 compliance, project management, team development, forecasting operational needs, developing budgets, and training staff.

Essential Job Duties :

  • Manages and directs the day-to-day functions of all Airside Operations.
  • Plans, assigns, and supervises the work of subordinates engaged in airside activities, including establishing challenging standards and productivity goals with clear measurements.
  • Directs, supervises, motivates, and counsels to ensure effective performance and career development of all applicable staff.

Takes a significant role in the development of airside operations staff to support their overall engagement, growth, goal achievement.

  • Provides effective leadership for Airside Operations.
  • Responsible for the daily activities of BNA in compliance with all state, local and federal laws, rules and regulations including FAR 139, 77, and 150 as well as all FAA Advisory Circulars related to operating an air carrier Airport.
  • Provides strategic advice and recommendations to leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of new or modified operating procedures, policies, and practices in Airside Operations.
  • Develops, implements, and follows airport safety and security regulations.
  • Makes comprehensive recommendations to operational problems which will improve the safety, quality, and productivity of the work performed.
  • Develops balanced metrics to ensure the performance and operation targets are efficient, achieved, and continuously improved upon.
  • Evaluates operational requirements and establishes the infrastructure necessary to complete Airside
  • Operations Initiatives and achieve Airside Operations goals.
  • Manages and / or provides day-to-day leadership regarding issues with staff, airlines, ground handlers, tenants, and other airport stakeholders.
  • Develops plans to mitigate landside and airside safety hazards or discrepancies.
  • Identifies environmental hazards, addresses hazards in accordance with state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, and initiates corrective actions as needed.
  • Assists in the development of Airside Operations Goals, Initiatives, business plans, and budgets.
  • Assists in the development and management of section budget, resource requirements, and purchasing. Prepares requests for proposals, reviews contracts, and

monitors deliverables. Requisitions materials, supplies, and equipment.

  • Leverages contract service providers to support operational goals, maintain desired service levels, and takes action, when needed.
  • Responds to the Airport Emergency Operations Center and serves as Deputy Operations Section Chief. Ensures that response is in compliance with Airport Emergency Plan (AEP) and standard operating procedures and follows the National Incident Command Systems (NIMS) protocols.
  • Manages the development of specific portions of the airport rules, regulations, and safety programs.
  • Follows all safety regulations.
  • Maintains regular and on-time attendance.
  • Supports MNAA’s commitment to its culture and values, including Respect, Integrity, Service and Excellence (RISE).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Aviation Law : Knowledge of laws, concepts, rules, regulations, and practices in the aviation industry.
  • OSHA Regulations : Knowledge of state and federal OSHA regulations.
  • Driving : Skill in operating a motor vehicle.
  • Computer Use : Skill in using a personal computer, the internet, and other software to perform job-related functions.
  • Relationship Building : Skill in establishing and maintaining effective and professional working relationships with others.
  • Plan Interpretation : Skill in reading and interpreting plans and specifications.
  • Reporting : Skill in preparing and producing timely and accurate oral and written reports.
  • Project Management : Skill in conceptualizing and managing complex projects and managing multiple projects using established project management principles.
  • Supervision of Personnel : Skill in supervising and managing others, including planning work, providing direction, motivating workers, and identifying the best workers for the job.
  • Written Comprehension : Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • Attention to Detail : Is careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge.

Qualifications : Required :

Required :

  • Bachelor's degree in business, aviation management, or a related field
  • 7-10 years of progressive airport operations experience
  • 2-4 years of Airside operations experience
  • Valid CLASS D Driver's License
  • Certified Member (CM) of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE)

Preferred :

  • 1- 2 years Part 139 compliance oversight
  • 1- 2 years airfield construction project management
  • Airport Certified Employee (ACE) - Operations
  • Airport Security Coordinator Certification
