SALARY : $21-$24 per hour, Non-exempt, 40 hours per week

Position Summary :

The primary responsibility of the Sacred Leaders Program Coordinator is to work as part of a team to provide holistic out-of-school time programs to club members, ages 12-18, with a core focus on increasing community engagement around commercial tobacco use prevention, as well as promoting traditional tobacco education and use within the urban American Indian community.

Broad focuses include partnering with internal and external partners to offer cultural, academic, health / wellness, life skills, and recreational activities, especially to club members ages 5-18.

Responsibilities : Program Coordination

  • Lead planning, preparation, and implementation of activities relevant to Sacred Leaders (SL) goals and objectives.
  • Assist Golden Eagles Program Coordinator and SL with planning youth-led presentations for younger youth about commercial / traditional tobacco.
  • Assist Director with establishing and maintaining relationships with prospective and current internal and external program partners.
  • Ensure that the outcomes, objectives, and deliverables detailed in relevant program grants are included in the annual program planning process.
  • Assist with program data management and retention, which includes data collection, entering data into data management systems and tools, filing, etc.
  • Assist with program reporting by providing club member data, anecdotal evidence, photos, etc.
  • Lead SL recruitment and retention efforts that are strengths based and effective, which include phone calls to families, presentations, tabling, mailings, conflict resolution, etc.
  • Assist with club member transportation services.
  • Assist Director with program marketing, including creating flyers, social media posts, etc., as assigned.
  • Assist with overseeing club member meal service, including space cleanliness, distribution, waste disposal, and necessary record keeping.
  • Supervise assigned program volunteers.
  • Maintain the utmost confidentiality when working with Club Members, families, staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain cleanliness and efficiency of program area.

Direct Service with Youth

  • Implement activities and events in accordance with annual and monthly activity plans.
  • Lead the implementation of daily activity plans, including implementing relevant curriculum,

following lesson plans, presenting information, facilitating discussions, etc.

Actively partner with Golden Eagles Program Coordinator and engage SL with implementing

youth-led education presentations for younger youth, especially about commercial and traditional tobacco use and cessation.

Delegate tasks to part-time staff and volunteers as appropriate to support the transportation,

preparation, and facilitation needs required to fulfill daily activity goals and objectives.

  • Ensure the overall supervision of club members during onsite and offsite programming.
  • Ensure a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for club members during onsite and offsite programming.
  • Prioritize authentic youth engagement by using Youth Program Quality Assessment standards and strategies of engagement.
  • Respond to safety and behavioral concerns in a timely manner.
  • Document and / or report safety, behavioral, and other concerning incidents in a timely manner.

Miscellaneous

Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and special events as

assigned.

Actively assist with pursuing and identifying relevant professional development opportunities.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work :

This is a full-time position. Days of work are typically Monday through Friday, with approximate school year hours from 12 : 30-8 : 30PM, Monday-Thursday, and summer hours from 10AM-6PM.

Days / hours vary, which include some holidays / weekends, and Minneapolis Public School release days.
