Summary :

Responsible for the expediting and tracking of prototype hardware, as well as maintaining and documenting quality of hardware.

Engineers in this position must be able to read technical prints, understand the needs of the design / test teams, communicate with vendors, and secure new suppliers per program needs.

Required to ensure all required GP11 Inspection documentation is complete and accurate to ensure timely delivery of quality parts for engineering test programs.

In this role, you will be a valuable part of the team by : Responsibilities :

  • Assume appropriate responsibilities as a member of the Prototype Procurement team.
  • Participates in planning and / or status meetings.
  • Promotes teamwork on all work-related assignments.
  • Cross-training for coverage of all department responsibilities.
  • Coordinate workload between other Quality Engineer(s) on the team.
  • Collaboration in a variety of work settings.
  • Assume the responsibilities of expediting hardware after the Purchase Order is placed to ensure on-time delivery of program hardware.
  • Offers support as a liaison between Product Engineering (PE), Engineering Operations (EO), and suppliers to resolve quality issues and provide technical support.
  • Supports investigation of supplier quality problems and coordinates implementation of effective and timely resolutions.
  • Contact suppliers weekly to determine status of hardware and coordinate off-site meetings when needed.
  • Manage timelines provided by suppliers to help ensure accurate updates.
  • Ensure design and test teams are informed of vendor needs and facilitate conversations with suppliers to ensure design parameters are met.
  • Conduct and facilitate technical reviews with potential suppliers, design engineers, and the drafting team.
  • Track hardware procurement and log database entries via Microsoft Access.
  • Quarantine incoming hardware and secure engineering approval of GP11 inspection documentation, a visual part inspection, and communicate all quality issues.
  • Source / develop new suppliers and manage ongoing relationships with current suppliers to resolve conflicts as needed to ensure program needs.
  • Provide reports as needed for program status and estimates.
  • Observe applicable procedures and practices as delineated in Test Operations Manual, PE Procedures and Standard Procedures.

To be successful in this role you will need the following : Experience :

  • Education Requirement
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Required :
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Physical presence in the workplace is an essential function.
  • 3 to 5+ years’ experience in engineering field in a similar position / group.
  • Proficient in written and spoken business communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Proficiency with computer operation, including SAP and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Ability to travel on short notice.
  • Travel 25%
  • Ability to set and meet goals for all deliverables.
  • Preferred :
  • BS degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology.
  • Basic knowledge of automatic transmission operation, clutches controls (both hydraulic and electric), hydraulics, and gears.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.
  • Understanding of machine and manufacturing processes.
