JOB SUMMARY
The Associate Instructor for Programs is a passionate, motivated individual who loves to work with and teach people of all ages, provides a great customer experience, and has a desire to grow in the climbing community.
The position involves teaching adult introductory through advanced series classes with the possibility of training instructors on similar level programs, as well as occasional youth and group programs.
Part time instructors work primarily on weeknights and weekends. Prior climbing experience is required, and lead climbing ability and previous instruction experience is a plus.
Qualified candidates may also have the opportunity to take Private Coaching clients and teach specialty clinics and workshops.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitate transformative climbing experiences while managing risks for participants and the community at large.
- Communicate effectively with clients of all ages and abilities while demonstrating empathy and compassion.
- Provide excellent customer service for all guests by seeking answers and solutions for customer questions.
- Teach climbing skills from provided curriculums and create inclusive spaces that foster a sense of belonging.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with co-workers and supervisors about feedback and concerns.
- Speak open and honestly; asking for help when needed and look to learn from mistakes.
- Develop skills to effectively communicate with others and listen to other perspectives to build partnerships.
- Take initiative to drive communication with prospective clients while expanding and growing your client base
- Monitor client's energy levels and support the athlete while promoting our core values.
- Be curious and question to further your understanding of what the client is hoping to gain.
- Ability to develop coaching plans for a broad range of clients.
- Present a plan for how that session or a series of sessions could progress over time.
- Provide a transformative experience for the client.
- Document private session thoroughly & consistently to support the program department.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

- Passion for working with athletes of all levels & ages to help further develop their unique needs.
- Have the knowledge and skill set to support an advanced client base of youth & adult climbers. Knowledge and experience in climbing instruction commensurate with the client's level
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with clients, coaches, parents, and gym leadership.
Including using applications like Microsoft Office and Asana.
- Prior experience teaching climbing, especially lead climbing skills preferred but not required.
- Ability to work 6-10 hours per week primarily on weeknights and / or weekends.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- This is a part time position
- Starting at $17.50 / hr, with flexibility based on experience
