About The Enterprise Innovation Institute

The Enterprise Innovation Institute is Georgia Tech's economic development arm, comprised of more than a dozen programs.

It's the largest and most comprehensive university-based program of its kind in the United States. Its core focus areas include entrepreneurship and startup development, business and industry growth, ecosystem development, and international outreach.

Georgia Tech Extension Professionals are research personnel assigned to fulfill the extension service mission of Georgia Tech to the State of Georgia and beyond.

Job Summary

Serving within the Research Faculty of The Institute, this position directly supports the extension, service, and economic development missions of Georgia Tech to the State of Georgia and beyond.

Primarily this position provides entrepreneurial incubation and acceleration services to Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC) companies in strategic areas that foster their development and encourage growth.

This position will be focused on serving the Macon, Ga. area as well as surrounding communities and can / may be assigned as a 1 / 2 (50%) time role.

Hybrid Working

This position is hybrid : remote and onsite. The primary office location will be in the Macon area however, incumbent in this position may be expected to travel state-wide and remain flexible to on-site daily service delivery hours (due to client schedules and / or project requirements).

Responsibilities

  • Advise ATDC member companies in strategic areas (business operations, fundraising, marketing, etc.) that foster their development and encourage growth.
  • Manage and cultivate ATDC relationships with investors, prospective business advisors / partners, CEOs, and community technology leaders to promote market outreach and business development.
  • Serve as ATDC member company advocate for awards, conferences, and recognition.
  • Identify and / or develop resources to cultivate and assist member ATDC companies and applicants (including delivery of entrepreneurial programs / events that promote business development & growth).
  • Evaluate and assess business potential of ATDC applicant companies and provide recommendations for membership.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Extension Professional I

A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Technology, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related / relevant field

Extension Professional II

  • A Master's degree in Engineering, Business, Technology, Mathematics, Computer Science, MBA or related / relevant field, plus 3 years relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree, or
  • A Master's degree in Engineering, Business, Technology, Mathematics, Computer Science, MBA or related / relevant field, plus 5 years relevant full-time experience after completion of BS degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Engineering, Business, Technology, Mathematics, Computer Science, MBA or related / relevant field

Sr. Extension Professional

  • A Master's degree in Engineering, Business, Technology, Mathematics, Computer Science, MBA or related / relevant field and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree, or
  • A Master's degree in Engineering, Business, Technology, Mathematics, Computer Science, MBA or related / relevant field and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Engineering, Business, Technology, Mathematics, Computer Science, MBA or related / relevant field and four (4) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education : MBA and / or Master's degree in related / relevant field.

Work Experience : Five to seven years job-related experience (or equivalent combination of education and work experience).

Skills : Ability to analyze, evaluate, and assess complex information; coaching and consulting experience; and an ability to use independent judgment and communicate effectively.

Preferred Applicant Backgrounds Include : (1) Founder of a technology startup or early-stage startup experience; (2) Leadership experience managing a technology company;

3) Leadership or supporting role in securing multiple rounds of financing (angel or venture).
