As expert manufacturers, we specialize in custom-made designs using rubber, plastic, and polyurethane materials. Our company excels in rubber injection molding, plastic injection, and cast polyurethane, among other processes.

We create custom-molded parts for a wide range of industries, including agriculture, recycling, solar, and construction.

The largest sector we serve is the automotive industry, supplying automotive plants worldwide, from Ohio to Mexico to Australia.

With over 200 employees, our two manufacturing sites, covering 200,000 sq. ft., are located in the Bay Area.

Job Description

The Jr. Plastics Processing Engineer will support the technical team in optimizing plastic manufacturing processes to enhance product quality, reduce cycle times, and increase overall equipment efficiency.

This is an entry-level position with the potential for growth within the company. The successful candidate will assist in various aspects of plastics processing, including scientific molding, troubleshooting, and process improvements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Support Plastics Processing Operations : Assist in the daily operation of plastic and rubber machines, helping ensure smooth production runs and efficient processes.
  • Process Optimization : Work with senior engineers to improve cycle times, reduce scrap, and improve product quality by fine-tuning machine settings and troubleshooting technical issues.
  • Quality Control Support : Assist the quality department by conducting quality checks and inspections of plastic parts, ensuring compliance with customer specifications.
  • Continuous Improvement : Collaborate on lean manufacturing initiatives aimed at improving production efficiency, reducing waste, and enhancing overall product quality.
  • Documentation and Reporting : Maintain detailed records of machine settings, process parameters, and production output.

Report any issues or opportunities for improvement to senior engineers.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work with other departments, including quality and production, to ensure seamless coordination and execution of projects.
  • Support New Part Development : Participate in the development and testing of new plastic components and processes, ensuring manufacturability and compliance with design specifications.

JOB INFORMATION

  • Starting Salary : $50K - $60K annual salary.
  • Workweek : Monday to Friday, from 7 : 30 am to 5 : 00 pm.

Qualifications

  • Scientific Molding Experience
  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to read part drawings and perform basic quality inspections.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Good communication skills and a collaborative team player.
  • Bachelor's degree in Plastics Engineering or a related field.
  • Some internship or co-op experience in plastic processing.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing concepts and a desire to learn more about process optimization.
