Job Summary :
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Commercial Lines Underwriter to join our dynamic team in Michigan. This hybrid role offers the flexibility of working both remotely and in-office, providing a balanced work environment.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial lines underwriting and a strong understanding of risk assessment and policy issuance.
Key Responsibilities :
- Evaluate and analyze commercial insurance applications to determine risk levels and appropriate coverage.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, agents, and clients to facilitate effective communication and service delivery.
- Review and assess policy renewals, endorsements, and cancellations to ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines.
- Collaborate with the underwriting team to develop and implement strategies for profitable growth.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and market conditions to make informed underwriting decisions.
- Provide training and support to junior underwriters and other team members as needed.
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation to support underwriting decisions and maintain accurate records.
Qualifications :
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial lines underwriting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field preferred.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a hybrid work environment.
- Knowledge of Michigan insurance regulations and market conditions is a plus.
