Senior Product Development Engineer

Our client is a global brand that provides key solutions and innovative products within retail, digital, access, and material handling sectors.

The Senior Product Development Engineer will specialize in electromechanical systems and spearhead New Product Development initiatives within the company's R&D department.

This position will offer technical leadership, oversee project timelines, and integrate mechatronics and networking protocols into product designs.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Lead a team of engineers in developing electromechanical products from concept through production.
  • Define and oversee technical direction to ensure products meet specifications, deadlines, and cost targets, and are production-ready.
  • Collaborate with customers to ensure development aligns with their needs and expectations.
  • Ensure product compliance with safety, regulatory, and industry standards.
  • Conduct design reviews and work with cross-functional teams to set product requirements, project timelines, and cost objectives.
  • Create D models, D drawings, BOMs, and maintain accurate CAD data.
  • Focus on manufacturability, reliability, serviceability, and cost-effectiveness in design.
  • Perform data analysis, design of experiments (DOE), product verification / validation, and test result analysis to guide design decisions.
  • Lead value analysis, cost reduction, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and test prototypes, explore new technologies, and conduct competitive product analysis.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and changes to the Project Manager and stakeholders.
  • Document and refine internal processes to establish engineering best practices.
  • Provide design guidance to Operations and support New Product Introduction (NPI) as required.
  • Advocate for the NPD process, ensure project success, and mentor team members.

Skills and Experience :

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with at least years of experience in electromechanical product development.
  • Deep understanding of electronic technologies, including controllers, sensors, energy supplies, HMI, and various communication types.
  • Python, C, C expeirence
  • Experience with Printed Circuit Board Design
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and capability to design innovative mechanical solutions.
  • Proven experience in leading engineering teams and managing complex projects.
  • Experience with electromechanical products and knowledge of UL, CE standards, and test development.
  • Proficiency in solid modeling CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) and FEA knowledge.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to write technical documents and maintain robust customer relationships.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and ability to perform under tight deadlines.
  • Strong multitasking ability with a focus on quality while managing multiple projects.
  • Willingness to travel up to % as needed.
