Production Manager

The Production Manager directs and coordinates activities of the manufacturing departments to optimum efficiency in processing materials and / or manufacturing mining equipment by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate managers.

Responsibilities

• Confers with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards, develop budget and cost controls, to obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.
• Plans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
• Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
• Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes on nonconformity with product specifications and operating or production problems.
• Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
• Revises production schedules and priorities as a result of equipment failure or operating problems.
• Consults with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products.
• Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data.
• Plans, develops and implements department policies and goals.
• Provides guidance to the development of a manufacturing process plan, including personnel requirements, material needs, subcontract requirements, facility needs, and tooling and equipment needs.
• Trains and ensures all assigned employees are aware of and comply with company, government, and customer policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Maintains a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.
• Manages subordinate manufacturing groups to include Assembly, Fabrication, Machining and Paint.
• Supports and assists with the implementation of Manufacturing Apprenticeship and Training Programs.
• Oversees proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
• Supervisory Duties : Directly supervises Managers of all Production Departments assigned to Manufacturing Operations to include Assembly, Fabrication, Machining and Paint Departments.

Indirectly supervises employees assigned to Manufacturing Departments. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of Production team.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees;

planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Competencies

• Education and Experience : Bachelor's degree (B. A.) or (B. S.) from four-year college or university and 7-10 years related managerial experience and / or training.
• Project Management : Develops project plans; Coordinates projects; Communicates changes and progress; Completes projects on time and budget;

Manages project team activities.

• Quantity : Meets productivity standards; Completes work in timely manner; Strives to increase productivity; Works quickly.
• Computer Skills : Knowledge of Database software; Human Resource systems; Internet software; Inventory software; Manufacturing software;

Order processing systems; Payroll systems; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

• Occasional overnight / extended domestic and international travel as required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and passport.
