Our Proposal team is searching for a Senior Proposal Analyst. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment.
You will contribute to the department by providing professional-level research administration support for proposal development and submission, including but not limited to : proposal and budget review, review of agency solicitations and RFPs, and the completion of applicable representations and certifications, ensure compliance with all applicable policies and procedures, including OMB’s Uniform Guidance;
and proactively provide customer support for Principal Investigators, business managers, department level staff, and Contracts Officers.
This position is part of a team, so the successful candidate must be willing to provide exceptional service in that context.
Responsible for submitting Federal and non-federal research and grant applications through electronic portals or other means, with or without inflexible deadlines.
Your core responsibilities will include :
- Providing informational assistance and training to business managers, principal investigators, and others.
- Providing information regarding potential funding agencies.
- Facilitating communication on behalf of the university and principal investigator with sponsors.
- Assisting business managers and principal investigators to meet agency and sponsor deadlines.
- Providing principal investigators with any materials received from agency or industry sponsors, and any specific instruction or restrictions that pertain to the award.
- Advising business managers and principal investigators regarding agency or industry sponsor communication and solicitation requirements during the review, after submission, and during the award process.
- Providing training to campus staff of electronic submission processes (e.g., Fastlane, Grants.gov) and other electronic research administration tools.
- Timely submission of proposals to Sponsors.
- Aiding with proposal development and budgetary compliance.
- Review of proposal package for compliance with sponsor requirements.
- Identifying required protocol (e.g., human subjects, animal subjects, rDNA) and disclosure (e.g., conflict of interest) requirements and notifying Compliance Administrator.
- Assisting Pre-Award Manager in documenting new and updating older policies and procedures for the Proposal Team.
- Assisting Pre-Award Manager by providing training amongst other team members.
- Will be assigned to the larger multi-college and center proposals.
- Responsible for reviewing all limited submission proposals and submitting them on behalf of the University.
- Main point of contact for complex online portals and registrations.
- Assisting the Pre-Award manager in reviewing and completing the more complex representation and certifications.
- Will serve as one of CMU’s Authorized Organization Representatives.

You should demonstrate :
- Knowledge of and proficiency in government electronic proposal systems.
- Knowledgeable with DoD proposal submissions.
Qualifications :
5 years of Sponsored Research Administration experience.
