Internship Description :
This fall, We are excited to offer an internship opportunity for aspiring social work professionals who are passionate about making a difference in their communities.
As a Social Worker Intern, you will gain valuable hands-on experience in facilitating groups, participating in community events, and providing support to individuals in various settings.
This internship is ideal for students seeking to apply their academic knowledge in real-world scenarios and develop essential skills for a career in social work.
Key Responsibilities :
Group Facilitation :
- Co-facilitate group sessions in diverse settings such as shelters, correctional facilities, and community-based organizations.
- Learn to adapt facilitation techniques to meet the needs of different groups and individuals.
Community Engagement :
- Assist in organizing and participating in community events, including Domestic Violence (DV) awareness month activities and holiday assistance programs.
- Represent the organization at tabling events, providing information and resources to community members.
Program Participation :
- Engage in the STRIVE program, attending regular sessions and providing support to participants as needed.
- Shadow experienced professionals to gain insight into client support activities, if appropriate.
Training and Education :
- Attend trainings on topics such as trafficking awareness and DV education, learning from experts in the field.
- Apply knowledge gained through trainings to enhance support provided to clients and community members.
Qualifications :
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field.
- Strong interest in working with diverse populations and addressing social issues such as domestic violence and human trafficking.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
- Cultural sensitivity and awareness of social justice issues.
- Previous experience in group facilitation or community engagement is a plus but not required.
