Site Safety Technician - ARB, Inc.
Summary
ARB, Inc. is looking for a Safety Technician who is able to dedicate the majority of their work hours in conducting field inspections to ensure adherence to safety standards and regulations.
This individual must have knowledge of OSHA standards and all other applicable agencies (EX : ANSI, NIOSH, AWEA) related to safe work practices and requirements.
General Requirements :
- Practice and enforce safety rules.
- Follow verbal and written instructions.
- Safely use of hand & power tools.
- Report to and assist immediate supervisor.
- Perform quality work as determined by project specifications.
- Be accountable for all tools and materials at the end of the shift.
- Must work well as part of a team.
- Additional tasks as assigned.
Functional Requirements :
- Responsible for performing field safety audits.
- Perform accident & incident investigations and reporting as directed.
- Assist in documentation collection while in the field.
- Assist in training functions.
- Investigate instances of non-conformance and facilitates the determination of the root cause.
- Provide input to management.
- Ensure that federal, state, company, and site-specific policies and procedures are enforced.
- Identify and suggest the resolution of problems promptly.
- Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Perform monthly and quarterly inspections on tools and safety equipment.
- Communicate effectively in front of large groups.
- Additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications :
- Three (3) years of experience in construction. If a person does not have a college degree, then five (5) years of experience as a safety professional in related construction shall suffice.
- Experience in the construction of renewable power plants, conventional power plants, HV Substations, and HV T-lines preferred.
- Certifications- Preferred CHST, OSHA 30 at a minimum OSHA 510 Safety Certification, current CPR / FA.
- Basic computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) for input and output of data.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Extensive knowledge of applicable OSHA standards.
- Bilingual (English / Spanish) is a plus.
Selected candidates must be able to :
- Work at a project site, for the duration of the project, sites in Mojave, CA & Sloughouse, CA
- Pass a drug / alcohol screen
- Pass a new hire orientation quiz
- Follow job site safety requirements as required by the client like wear long sleeved clothing, steel toe boots etc.
- Wear safety equipment as required (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.
Physical Requirements :
- Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol abuse policy.
- Must be able to climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, stairways, etc.
- Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at elevated heights as well as in confined spaces (towers, vessels, excavations, etc.).
- Must be able to carry 50 lbs. of tools and / or materials. It is recommended to get assistance to lift items over 50 lbs.
Always check with your project supervisor or project safety director.
- Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
- Must be able to work extended hours standing up and on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel, etc.)
- Must be able to work while wearing a respirator and other personal protective equipment, when required.
- Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of such individual or others in the workplace

- Uneven ground level and obstructed pathways
- Low and / or high elevations
- Confined areas
Climatic / Environmental Conditions at Job Site :
- Predominately outdoor climate
- Exposure to extreme hot or cold weather
- Excessive humidity, rain, etc.
- Various noise levels caused by tools, machinery, equipment, etc.
- Potential exposure to chemical substances
Compensation : Hourly Range from $24-$30 per hour based on skills and experience
