Job Description
UM Capital Region Medical Center, a member of the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to join the Cardiac Intensive Care Team team .
You will be part of a growing cardiac surgery team and with new complex PCI and Structural Heart programs.
Job Specifics :
Performs routine and expanded job descriptions as listed in the provider's delegation agreement on file with the Maryland Board of Physicians of Maryland Board of Nursing.
Under the direction of a physician, the APP will : Work in conjunction with the cardiac surgeons and intensivistsProvide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services to patients requiring a variety of cardiac surgical interventions, including ventricular assist devices, heart-lung transplant, and other cardiac diagnoses.
Communicate effectively with attending physicians, other medical teams, team members, and patients and their families.Obtain medical histories, examines patients, rounds daily, orders and interprets tests, makes initial diagnoses, and orders treatments.
Performs invasive procedures such as placement of Central, Arterial, Hemodialysis, and Pulmonary Artery Catheter line, the insertion and removal of chest tubes, Thoracentesis, and the removal of Intra-Aortic Balloon PumpParticipate in the development of advanced evidence-based practices and support the educational programs.
Demonstrates competence and skill in required tasks and proceduresDemonstrates knowledge of and competency in required subspecialty.
Completes at least 50 hours of Category I CME every two years. Including 32 hours of trauma related CME.Performs according to Maryland BOP standards and expanded job description procedural protocols.
Facilitates excellence in quality assurance and the delivery of patient care.Provides optimal quality of patient care while following safety guidelinesMaintains a procedure complication rate less than the national average.
Contributes to cohesive group relations; uses open communication to resolve problems in and between departments.Demonstrates commitment to professional department and organizational core values.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications :
PAs : Bachelor's degree, graduation from an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program, and certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician's Assistants are required.
Candidate must hold an active Maryland license through the Maryland Board of Physicians.
- NPs : Bachelor's degree, RN experience, and completion of Acute Nurse Practitioner degree. Candidate must hold an active Maryland license through the Maryland Board of Nursing.
- Preferred 3 years of experience as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner providing direct care to patients preferably in a surgical program setting.
Accepting NP graduate with 5 years as RN in Cardiac Surgery ICU
- Credentialing must be obtained from UM Capital Region Health's Medical Staff Office and maintenance of BLS / ACLS certification is required.
- Salary is commensurate with clinical experience.
- The position offers a 12-hour, rotating shift schedule
