Facilities Project Engineer

Position Summary
The facilities project engineer assists with estimating, procurement, preparing reports, developing known performance indicators, reviewing subcontracts, and providing overall support in all aspects of construction and space allocation projects ranging in size of scope.
Responsibilities
- Partners with project staff in coordinating, scheduling, estimating and material take-offs, KPI reporting, and quality control functions
- Works with the Project Manager to establish a cost reporting, reviewing, and tracking system for project components and change orders
- Supports management to achieve project profitability and scheduled goals
- Attends and documents project meetings, including meeting minutes and action items
- Maintains, supports, and updates all electronic and hard copy records related to projects, including organization and archiving of project close out documents and finalized as-built records
- Maintains project accountability as it relates to schedule performance, quality, and budget for projects as assigned
- Maintains effective working relationships with Kootenai Health leadership team and other departments to provide a unified approach to healthcare facility service planning and project management / execution
- Ensures compliance with environmental and infection prevention best practices and regulations
- Schedules and follows through with routine and periodic quality inspections of finished work, or work in progress as it relates to critical milestones and approved pay applications
- Reviews and negotiates schedule of values as it relates to guaranteed maximum pricing (GMP)
- Ensures compliance with OSHA, DNV (NIOSH), Idaho Public Works, applicable city and state permitting, and other governing regulatory standards related to project management and execution
- Regular and predictable attendance is expected and is essential
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, project management, construction management required; 4 years’ experience directly related to construction project management may be accepted in lieu of degree
- 2 years’ experience in construction project management required in addition to education requirement; prior experience in construction project management in a healthcare setting preferred
- Familiarity with MS Projects, Blue Beam, Procore
- Familiarity with interpreting architectural designs including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing
- CAPM or higher accreditation through PMI required within one year of hire
- Must complete an approved infection control risk assessment certification program within 1 year of hire
- Attention to detail, excellent communication, and superior customer service skills required
Working Conditions
- Must be able to lift or move up to 75 lbs
- Must be able to maintain a standing and / or sitting position
- Work in confined spaces for short periods of time
- Exposure to noise, electrical shock, mechanical hazards, fumes, burns, hazardous chemicals and infectious wastes
- Must be able to push, pull, or transport heavy equipment
- Must be able to stoop, crouch or bend
- Must be safety conscious and aware of hazards such as cleaning solutions, needles, glass, and faulty equipment to prevent injury to self, patients, visitors and staff
- Possible exposure to blood and body fluids requiring the use of personal protective equipment
