Innovation Specialist Location : Allied Command Transformation (ACT), Norfolk, VA Department : Innovation Hub Role Overview : The Innovation Specialist will play a key role in fostering and managing innovation within NATO's Allied Command Transformation (ACT).
This position focuses on developing innovative solutions to complex problems, enhancing NATO's operational capabilities, and promoting a culture of experimentation and agile methodologies across the Alliance.
The Innovation Specialist will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including military personnel, industry experts, academia, and allied nations, to drive forward NATO’s innovation agenda.
Key Responsibilities : Innovation Project Management : Lead and manage innovation projects from concept to implementation, ensuring alignment with NATO’s strategic objectives.
This includes overseeing the development of new technologies, processes, and systems that enhance NATO's warfighting capabilities.
Collaboration and Networking : Build and maintain strong relationships with a broad network of stakeholders, including NATO nations, industry partners, academic institutions, and other international organizations.
Facilitate collaboration through workshops, innovation challenges, and joint initiatives. Agile Methodologies and Experimentation : Promote the use of agile methodologies and a culture of experimentation within NATO.
Lead initiatives like the Innovation Challenge, where innovative solutions to NATO’s operational problems are identified and developed.
Strategic Planning and Innovation : Contribute to the development of NATO’s innovation strategy, ensuring that it aligns with the broader goals of the Alliance.
Work closely with senior leadership to identify areas where innovation can provide the most significant impact. Data-Driven Decision Making : Utilize data analytics to support innovation initiatives, providing insights that inform strategic decisions.
Ensure that all innovation efforts are supported by robust data analysis and are aligned with NATO’s digital transformation strategy.
Communication and Outreach : Develop and deliver presentations, reports, and briefings to senior NATO leadership and other stakeholders.
Promote innovation initiatives and successes both within NATO and to the broader defense community. Qualifications : Education : A bachelor’s or master’s degree in innovation management, business administration, engineering, or a related field.
Advanced degrees are preferred. Experience : At least 5 years of experience in innovation management, project management, or a related field.
Experience within an international or defense organization is highly desirable. Technical Skills : Proficiency in project management tools and techniques, with experience in agile methodologies.
Familiarity with data analytics and digital transformation initiatives is a plus. Soft Skills : Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment. A passion for innovation and a strong problem-solving mindset are essential.
