About the Role
We are seeking to fill several Shift Supervisor positions for our Valor Place youth residential program located in Detroit.
We seek competent and responsible individuals to lead a team of Youth Specialists who support young people ages 15 to 19 in an open residential setting.
Valor Place provides 24 hours of service, that features counseling and educational services. Successful candidates have strong leadership and teambuilding skills and are great communicators passionate about helping young people meet their goals and contribute to a positive peer community.
The starting pay rate is commensurate with relevant experience.
The youth in this program may receive individual counseling emphasizing personal accountability and restorative justice. Shift Supervisors are responsible for all staff on a shift and ensure that established staff-to-resident ratios are maintained through competent schedule management.
This role contributes by ensuring program and treatment integrity and compliance with Michigan Department of Health & Human Services and Child Welfare Licensing requirements.
Spectrum Child and Family Services is fully accredited through the Council on Accreditation (COA).
The ideal candidate will be a great communicator who can guide and train employees. Shift Supervisors are on-the-floor leaders who observe and provide feedback to promote the growth of the Youth Workers on their assigned shifts.
Successful Shift Supervisors understand policies and are well-versed in facility programs, policies, and processes. The goal is to maintain an environment that promotes growth and engagement in Spectrum’s mission to become the provider of choice for high-secure treatment and detention services in Michigan.

Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and 2 years of work in a child-caring institution.
- Two years of college from an accredited college or university and 3 years of work experience in a child-caring institution.
- A high school diploma and 4 years of work experience in a child-caring institution
- Must complete and return a record of no findings on the DHHS Central Registry Clearance, a criminal background check free of felony convictions, a physical examination which indicates satisfactory health status free from communicable diseases including TB, and the physical ability to perform the function of the job with or without accommodations.
Must have reliable transportation and a valid State of Michigan Driver's License.
