Description :

The Construction Superintendent oversees the work of employees and independent contractors in their designated area of responsibility.

They act as a liaison between Project Managers and the field, ensuring that construction aligns with the specified drawings and specifications.

Planning project-specific work schedules and coordinating material and equipment requirements are key tasks undertaken by the Construction Superintendent.

They also engage with independent contractors for various project needs.

The Superintendent devises a material delivery strategy and prepares take-off worksheets. They closely monitor the performance and productivity of all crafts involved in the construction to maintain adherence to project rules, procedures, and safety requirements.

Conducting weekly safety meetings is part of their safety management approach.

Additionally, the Construction Superintendent collaborates with senior-level supervision and project management to address potential problems, work interferences, and schedule difficulties.

Their proactive approach helps in circumventing and resolving such issues.

They maintain communication with other departments, such as Purchasing, Accounting, and Engineering, as necessary to support the construction schedule.

Ensuring the availability of materials, tools, and supplies to support the construction plan is also among their responsibilities.

  • To enhance safety on the job site, the Construction Superintendent promptly identifies and eliminates construction and site hazards.
  • The Construction Superintendent is responsible for providing a clear and accurate set of as-built drawings after the completion of the project.

Requirements :

Candidates for the Construction Superintendent position should have at least 5+ years of experience in mechanical contracting, with a minimum of 3 years working as a construction foreman, superintendent, or in a similar role.

A Journeyman or Master Plumbing License is a required qualification.

Multifamily construction experience is a mandatory requirement for this role.

The ideal candidate should possess expert knowledge of building products, construction details, and relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards.

The ability to read and interpret blueprints, coordination and / or BIM drawings, submittals, specifications, details, and job orders is essential.

The Construction Superintendent should have advanced knowledge of construction management processes, means, and methods, as well as a comprehensive understanding of all facets of the construction process.

Strong planning skills and the ability to see the "big picture" are crucial for this role.

Conflict and crisis management skills, along with leadership abilities, are highly valued.

Excellent time and project management skills are required to ensure successful project completion.
