Position Summary
The main focus of this part-time adjunct library faculty position will be the provision of in-person and virtual reference services with other projects as assigned.
The successful candidate is expected to work 10-14 hours per week.
Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule
Adjunct Professor is typically assigned as needed on a quarterly basis, with no expectation of continued employment beyond the current appointment.
Compensation is $58.26 - $71.96 per hour . Individuals newly hired to Adjunct Professor group at the college are placed at the minimum rate per union bargaining agreement.
Certain positions may also be eligible for assignment / project-based additional compensation, including a High Demand Stipend up to $8,350 annually, prorated based on the discipline and duration of the assignment.
All additional compensations are subject to change depending on funding and negotiated agreement.

Eligible employees are faculty who work a combined load of at least 50% at Bellevue College and other Washington State public institutions of higher education for two consecutive quarters are eligible for health and dental insurance at the start of the second consecutive quarter.
In addition to teaching, faculty maintains office hours and may participate in department and college activities. This position is represented by the Bellevue College Association of Higher Education (BCAHE) union.

About the Department
The Bellevue College Library plays a vital role in the mission and goals of the College by being a place for personal and intellectual discovery, a student-centered place committed to research & teaching excellence.
To actively support lifelong learning, the library continually assesses its policies, services, and collections to be responsive to the curriculum, instructional modalities and the pursuit of equitable, diverse, and inclusive learning experiences and resources.
Essential Functions
- Provide reference services, in-person and online.
- May include some library instruction.
- Create digital and / or physical tools that promote library resources and service.
- Participate in other library initiatives and projects as needed.
- Early morning, evening, and weekend work may be required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS or MLS) from an ALA-accredited institution.
- Ability to successfully and respectfully work with library patrons from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience providing reference services in an academic library.
- Effective written and verbal communication.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Library instruction and / or teaching experience.
- Community college work experience.
- Proficiency in an additional spoken language to English or American Sign Language.
- Proficient with current and emerging library technologies.
