Job Title : Phlebotomist
Job Description
Summary : The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.
Position Responsibilities : Experience in performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, and updating patient information.
Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures. Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of venipuncture, blood drawing, and other specimen collections (.
urine or fecal) as required. Demonstrates techniques using straight needles and / or butterfly needles. Fully understands all of the physicians' orders.
Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Labels, centrifuges, splits, and freezes specimens as required by test order.
Checks all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% correctness. Packages specimens for transport.
Stores specimen samples according to required temperature, places samples in appropriate collection containers / tubes, accurately labels, and follows different procedures as outlined by specific protocols to maintain the integrity of the specimen during transport.
Understands and complies with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attends annual department trainings. Answers telephone calls and reads laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

Job Type
This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 18 Weekly.
Work Site
This is a fully on-site position in Cary, North Carolina.
Work Environment
Minimum of 2 years work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
