Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Purchasing Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the procurement process, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring that all purchasing activities align with company goals.

This role requires a strong understanding of supply chain management, inventory control, and contract management to optimize purchasing strategies and drive cost efficiencies.

Education, Prior Work Experience, Specialized Skill or Knowledge :

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, economics or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of procurement experience, preferably in a mechanical, fabrication or Process Engineering field.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent listening, verbal & written communication skills
  • Commercial awareness, ability to negotiate the best supplier partnership
  • Demonstrates aptitude and precision working with numbers
  • Knowledge of industry specific regulations and compliance requirements
  • Strong leadership and mentorship skills

Duties

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies and policies for cost optimization and enhancing supply chain efficiency.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to stay updated on industry trends, supplier capabilities and pricing fluctuations.
  • Report on unusual market trends or problems and recommend corrective action.
  • Identify, evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, reliability, cost-effectiveness and adherence to ethical and sustainability standards.
  • Utilize the Vendor Management process to source and negotiate with potential suppliers, assess their capabilities and evaluate their suitability based on predetermined criteria.

i.e. : favorable pricing, payment terms, detailed specifications, quality requirements, shipping and delivery information as well as conditions of delivery.

  • Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to ensure favorable pricing, payment terms and mutually beneficial agreements.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their requirements and align procurement activities with organizational goals.
  • Prepare and present reports on procurement activities, performance metrics, and cost savings.
  • Update weekly metrics for PPS and PSI.
  • Actively participate in bi-weekly PSI meetings.
  • Lead and direct the work of the Purchasing Assistant including hiring, onboarding, and oversee performance.
  • Manage supplier relationships, including ongoing performance evaluations, issue resolution and fostering long-term partnerships.
  • Communicate with vendors and PSM personnel to exchange information, investigate complaints, resolve discrepancies, correct errors, and clarify issues related to purchase orders, invoices, statement, deliveries and payment.
  • Develop and maintain a variety of Records : annual contracts, catalogs, Certificates of Insurance, Vendor Confidentiality Agreements, V-Cards, Return Goods, Purchasing history, Inventory valuation.
  • Monitor inventory levels, analyzing demand patterns and implementing inventory management strategies to manage stock levels and avoid shortage or excess.

Price products based on company strategy.

  • Coordinate and process all weekly Inventory replenishment orders to ensure that adequate inventory is available as needed.
  • Inspect all BFM crate arrivals for quality and accuracy.
  • Ensure all pricing is appropriate for both PPS and PSI products i.e. : BFM items, assembly items, fabricated parts.
  • Work directly with suppliers to procure new inventory items, update internal systems with part numbers and pricing accordingly.
  • Value your personal development and remain on the forefront of emerging technology in fields relating to this position.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and constructively make suggestions for that improvement.
