Description

Based in Portland, Maine, and offering services statewide, Preble Street's low-barrier, client-centered programs provide casework, housing, shelter, food, and other essential services to people in our community experiencing homelessness, hunger, and poverty, while advocating for long-term solutions to these problems.

Preble Street's Development Department advances and extends the reach of the agency mission through fundraising, grant writing, donor and community relations, and communications.

The Development team is seeking a Development Coordinator to provide oversight for a range of fundraising support activities, including the annual fund, public and community communications, board and volunteer relations, donor tracking and acknowledgement.

This role has a heavy emphasis on the management of the agency constituent data management systems, , and share responsibility in development administrative activities.

This is a full-time (40 hours / week) position with a Monday - Friday schedule, with most work to be performed during core business hours.

Qualifications

The desired combination of education and relevant experience for this position includes a bachelor's degree with 5 years experience;

however, candidates with any combination of experience and education likely to provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities to be successful in the position will be considered.

  • An understanding of homelessness and poverty and a commitment to the agency mission are required. The successful candidate will also possess highly developed computer skills including Microsoft Office products and Raiser's Edge or comparable CMS;
  • experience creating and maintaining administrative support systems; experience in donor support, events, or project management;
  • excellent customer service skills; excellent business writing and verbal communication skills; understanding of the principles of fundraising;
  • experience with direct mail, donor and volunteer relations, public relations, and special events; strong organization and time management skills;

and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly rate of pay for this full-time (40 hours / week) position is $24 per hour. Generous paid time off, insurance, and retirement plan benefits include :

  • 4 weeks / 160 hours (accrued) vacation time, 20 Days / 160 hours (accrued) sick time, 4 Days / 32 Hours Personal Time, 12 paid holidays
