The Harris For President Campaign is seeking a Director of Principal Travel to drive travel management in support of Governor Walz’s, the Second Gentleman’s, and Mrs.

Walz’s campaign travel. This position reports to the Deputy Chief Operating Officer. The ideal candidate has exemplary attention to detail, the ability to juggle competing priorities in a fast-paced environment, and strong communication skills.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Manage planning and process for travel support of all campaign principals, coordinating with White House counterparts, to ensure each principal trip receives the needed level of travel support.
  • Engage with travel vendors, help negotiate contracts, and advocate for efficient and cost-effective travel support across campaign travel needs.
  • Source hotel options for entire travel footprint (advance, traveling staff, USSS, press, etc.) for each principal trip, book hotels and manage room manifests, ensure billing is accurate across different paying entities.
  • Book and coordinate commercial travel for staff separate from principal movements.
  • Coordinate reservations and booking of motorcade vehicles, manage vehicle manifests.
  • Oversee the campaign’s leased charter plane operations, coordinate timing of plane movements with plane vendors, request additional crews when necessary, partner with Scheduling & Advance on usable airports or FBOs and plane manifests.
  • Set expectations and organize communications with press media outlets to ensure accurate and timely billing and payment for press hotel rooms, press seats in motorcade movements, and press seats on leased charter planes.
  • Manage Travel Coordinators to ensure approved travel for Advance Associates is booked in accordance with the campaign Travel Policy.
  • Collaborate with and provide support to the Director of Travel for staff and surrogate travel, when needed.
  • Additional projects as assigned.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications :

  • 5+ years of experience managing travel and events logistics.
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities under pressure with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and experience working collaboratively across teams.
  • A team player with a mindset that no task is too small and no problem too large.
  • Willingness to relocate to Wilmington, DE.

$90,000 - $110,000 a year
