About the Job
As part of the multidisciplinary team, this position is responsible for the care of cardiac surgical patients before and after surgery.
A successful team member in this position is a team player, flexible with assignments and scheduling, and able multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Highlighted Responsibilities
- Management of patients from newborn to 18 years old preoperatively and through phase I and phase II levels of postoperative care
- Management of airways including nasal airways, oral airways and bag valve mask
- Assessing and maintaining appropriate postoperative pain control
- Multidisciplinary communication to ensure safe, developmentally appropriate care.
- Provide communication and education to families to ensure involvement and understanding in their child’s care.
- Documentation in EPIC EMR system
- Average day utilizes 8 pre-op bays and 8 PACU bays.
- Services include MRI Radiology, Cardiac Cath and pre-op CT Surgery
- Assist with sedated echo procedures and infusions.
Qualifications
Experience : 2 years’ RN experience in PACU or critical care, prefer cardiac experience
Education : BSN
License : TX RN License
Certification : BLS
