We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Medical Biller / Collections Specialist in the healthcare industry.
This role is based in Alhambra, California and will involve handling patients' billing and insurance-related information within a hospital setting.
Responsibilities :
- Manage and keep up-to-date patient accounts.
- Act as a liaison between patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers to resolve billing disputes.
- Review insurance denials and make necessary appeals.
- Conduct billing and collection activities, including processing insurance claims.
- Respond to patient inquiries about billing, insurance coverage, and payment options.
- Review outstanding insurance balances and initiate steps to process payments.
- Work with data management systems to track payments, charges, and adjustments.
- Ensure the accuracy of patients' accounts by regularly updating and maintaining them.
- Clarify insurance benefits to patients.
- Use medical software to handle UB04 form, medical billing, collections, appeals, and denials.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role within the Healthcare, Hospitals, or Social Assistance industry
- Proficiency in using UB04 form
- Experience with Medical software
- Proven skills in Medical Billing and Medical Collections
- Knowledge of Medical Appeals and Medical Denials
- Familiarity with Hospital Billing procedures
- Experience in Hospital Inpatient and Outpatient billing
- Knowledge of Hospital Revenue Cycle
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Good time management skills, ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Familiarity with federal, state, and payer-specific regulations and policies pertaining to collections
