Position Description : SUMMARY OF POSITION :
The Group Leader must have a strong commitment to youth development.
The Group Leader is responsible for the direct guidance, supervision, and safety of youth under their care,
while ensuring an engaging and intellectual stimulating experience.
The Group Leader will serve as a model for school age elementary youth by providing an engaging, fun
experience, while conducting activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, practice, and
implementation.
The Group Leader must have knowledge of how to create diversified lesson plans, and what is needed to
help each child reach their full potential.
The Group Leader must be able to manage multi-tasking and be energetic. He / she must be able to execute
directions and have strong ability to communicate with parents and staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Create and lead engaging activities for up to 15 youth, ensuring safety and comfort of students
throughout the program.
Must organize, manage, and maintain student projects and timelines for all culminating events.
Responsible for facilitating program trainings in classroom management, disseminate classroom
lesson plans, and review teachers choice lessons.
Design and implement lesson plans for multidisciplinary activities using knowledge of positive youth
development and incorporating student feedback throughout the school year.
Ensure that academic assistance is provided during homework period.
Plan and involve children in a range of multidisciplinary activities, design and implement thematic
based lessons.
Serve as a positive role model for youth and always uphold professional behavior.
Work constructively with co-counselor and other colleagues; communicate regularly with supervisory
staff.
Communicate with parents and caregivers regarding student progress and problem solving.
Maintain responsibility for designated program supplies and proper use of all facilities, including
classrooms.
Complete all necessary documentation and administrative tasks.
Sr. Group Teacher must complete at least 30 hours of mandated training as per the SACC
School Age Child Care) regulations 4.14.

REQUIREMENTS & COMPETENCIES :
To be a successful Group Leader, an employee must maintain confidential information regarding the
personal history of employee records. Should possess the following skills :

Ability to problem solve & critically think through problems.
Ability to work with Special Needs Population (I.E. IEP, 509 students, etc.)
EDUCATION / WORK REQUIREMENTS :
Minimum of 2 Years of Youth Development experience
Must have led a wide range of activities or class sessions
Bachelors degree preferred but not required
Must Successfully Pass DOH (Dept of Health) State Fingerprint Clearance
Must Successful Pass SCR (Statewide Central Registry Clearance).
Must Successful Pass SEL (Social Emotional Learning) (Staff Exclusion List Clearance)
Must have an up to date medical within the last 6 months incl. TB Shot results
LANGUAGE SKILLS :
Ability to write daily logs, and quarterly student assessments. Ability to effectively present information and
respond to questions from groups of managers, students, and parents. Knowledgeable of Basic / Intermediate
K-5 ELA (Spelling, Definitions, Sentences, Word Stories).
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS :
Knowledgeable of Basic / Intermediate K-5 Math (Division. Multiplication, Fractions, Graphs, Problem Solving
Math Sentences)
REASONING ABILITY :
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only
limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or
schedule form. Ability to use discretion and exhibit an important level of confidentiality.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
Ability to perform physical sport-based activities such as run relays, softball, stretching, and incorporate
active movement throughout supervision. Must be able to stand for at least 30 minutes at a time to conduct
and engage youth in physical activities. The physical demands described here are representative of those
that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable
