GENERAL SUMMARY : As a member of the Department of Pathology, the Lab Supervisor / Billing analyst directly supervises the billing and accounting information for laboratory and assists all clinical managers in troubleshooting and coordinating the distribution of test results and outside client billing.

This position also provides technical supervision for off campus lab sites and provides oversight for client based LIS test code and data base development.

Lab Supervisor / Billing Analyst maintains the confidentiality of all patient and hospital information. Duties and Responsibilities :

Reviews all bills on accounts payable and consults with section managers to determine accuracy. Forwards accurate bills to accounts payable for payment.

Develops bills for all contract physician account clients.

Follows up all failed claims submitted by the Patient Finance Department through emails or interdepartmental mails.

Daily reviews of Outpatient Discharged Reports for duplicate orders and applying the necessary modifiers before submitting it to Patient Finance Department.

Daily reviews of Department Log Summary Report to ensure that all services are being charged for all sections of the Pathology Department.

Daily reviews of the Audit Report for date of service for older than 5 days or posting.

Requesting and assigning new SIM-FIM code for new test or change in pricing for updating the charge master.

Investigates, and reviews of the Charge Error Report for credits / charges.

Performs charge or credits for correct billing numbers.

Designs and / or generates reports as requested.

Creates and implements day to day computer job streams.

Supervision :

Provides technical supervision for off campus lab sites

Assists Blood Bank Manager in his / her absence.

Provides oversight for client based LIS test code and data base development.

Provides bench-work support when staffing levels require.

Participates in Section & Department meetings as required.
