Job Summary

The Pediatric Neuropsychologist provides advanced clinical psychological services including neuropsychological assessment, diagnosis, consultation, and intervention to the interprofessional healthcare team and patients / families.

Must have broad knowledge of medical, neurological, and neurobehavioral syndromes that are known to impact neuropsychological functioning.

Administer and interpret neuropsychological assessments to evaluate neuropsychological domains including cognitive, behavioral, and social-emotional functioning of children through young adults with co-morbid complex medical conditions as well as a wide range of other developmental / learning challenges and / or psychiatric / mental health concerns.

Develop individualized educational and treatment recommendations for patients based on the results of the neuropsychological assessment.

Maintain the highest standards of safety, ethical practice, and respect for diversity throughout service provision. As an advanced level psychologist, Pediatric Neuropsychologists provide comprehensive oral and written feedback for patients with multi-dimensional medical, psychological, interpersonal, environmental and / or instrumental needs.

Expected to lead, facilitate, and / or participate in program, policy, and procedure development, service planning, staff development, quality improvement and evaluation, and / or research activities as identified by the needs of the service area(s).

This position also includes clinical supervision, oversight, and teaching to doctoral level psychology practicum students, interns, neuropsychology fellows, or unlicensed neuropsychological staff as directed.

Pay Range

Minimum $124,941 Midpoint $165,548 Maximum $206,156

Experience

Required :

Master's degree (or admission to doctoral candidacy) in clinical, school, or counseling psychology.

Four (4) years of post-master's degree of relevant clinical mental health experience.

Minimum two (2) years of clinical experience in pediatric or lifespan neuropsychology at the post-doctoral level.

Preferred :

Four (4) years of post-master's degree of relevant clinical mental health experience working in a healthcare setting.

Three (3) years of clinical experience in pediatric or lifespan neuropsychology, including 2 years at the post-doctoral level.

Demonstrated experience in cognitive and neuropsychological assessment, consultation skills, and therapeutic intervention within a medical setting is required.

Experience providing neuropsychology supervision / clinical oversight to neuropsychology junior colleagues or unlicensed professionals.

Education

Required :

Doctorate degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) from APA accredited doctoral program in clinical, school or counseling psychology.

Foundational coursework and knowledge of psychological research methods.

Foundational coursework, knowledge, and application of evidence-based psychological treatment methods.

Foundational coursework and knowledge of diversity and multicultural issues impacting mental health.

Preferred :

Neuropsychology is the major area of study during APA accredited doctoral program and / or clinical internship.

Foundational coursework and training in clinical neuropsychology, brain / behavior relationships, neurological disorders, neuroanatomy, and the administration of neuropsychological testing and interpretation of neuropsychological testing results to assist with mental health diagnosis and treatment planning.

Training

Required :

Completion of one year APA accredited doctoral clinical psychology internship.

Completion of a two-year pediatric or lifespan neuropsychology post-doctoral fellowship that meets the Houston Conference guidelines.

Neuropsychology is the major area of study during fellowship.

Eligibility for and preparation to seek board certification in neuropsychology.

Preferred :

Board certification in neuropsychology.

Demonstrated experience and skills in key clinical neuropsychology areas : cognitive and neuropsychological assessment, consultation, treatment and intervention, research, and teaching & supervision (per Houston Conference guidelines).

Has acquired the foundations for study of brain-behavior relationships and the practice of neuropsychology.

Broad knowledge of quality, patient safety, performance improvement, regulatory requirements, medical staff structure, peer review and legal aspects of care.

Ability to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; provide leadership; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies;

respond courteously when under pressure. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal relationship and collaboration skills.

Licensure

Required :

Psychology License : must have psychology license prior to start date, if psychology license is out of state (not California) must convert to a California psychology license within 6 months of hire date.
