The YMCA of Greater New York Association Office is seeking a Senior Accountant who will be responsible for performing accounting work, including but not limited to preparing and reporting financial records and reports of government awards, providing information to Association staff and YMCA Branches, reconciling general ledger accounts, and assisting with Community House accounting operations.
The Senior Accountant will also assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports, budgets, and audits.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of accounting experience. Government contract and not for profit accounting experience is a plus.
- At least one (1) year of non-profit experience.
- Experience working with various government agencies on the State and NYC level (NYOCFS, SED, DYCD, DOHMH, DFTA) is a plus.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles. (GAAP)
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (i.e., pivot table, vlookup, sumif).
- Experience with Oracle, Salesforce, and Quickbooks is a plus.
Essential Functions
- Prepare and submit monthly government billings for each assigned branch and grants in a timely manner. Keep track of monthly government billing progress and reporting compliance deadlines.
- Communicate with Business Managers and Program Directors regularly about unbillable items and resolve variances.
- Prepare, analyze, and reconcile financial reports and records.
- Prepare schedules and retrieve documents for all government contracts, uniform guidance, and state and financial statement audits.
- Complete grants close out for all the assigned contracts in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with team members to research and resolve accounting issues.
- Assist branch staff with budgets and budget modifications.
- Provide technical support to the Business Managers and Program Directors on contract budget management.
- Other duties as directed.
