Assistant Controller
Location : Denver, Colorado (Hybrid, travel required once a quarter)
Compensation : $120,000 - $150,000
About the Opportunity
A rapidly growing technology and professional services organization is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join its global finance team. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment. The Assistant Controller will play a key role in strengthening financial reporting processes, optimizing systems, and ensuring compliance across multiple entities in the U.S., Canada, and India.
Key Responsibilities
Lead consolidated financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Manage accounting operations across U.S., Canadian, and Indian entities while maintaining compliance with local regulations.
Serve as the Assistant Controller responsible for technical accounting and SEC reporting support.
Partner with leadership to streamline private equity reporting, develop custom dashboards, and enhance visibility through NetSuite automation.
Oversee the implementation and optimization of NetSuite Multibook functionality, including custom reporting and financial consolidations.
Ensure Avalara sales tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions and manage ongoing tax automation improvements.
Support monthly close activities, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve financial data integrity, reporting accuracy, and workflow efficiency.
Participate in quarterly travel for leadership meetings and process alignment.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
CPA or CMA preferred.
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including time in public accounting and within SaaS or technology industries.
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, with exposure to Canadian and Indian accounting standards.
Proven experience implementing and managing NetSuite, including reporting customization.
Understanding of technical accounting, SEC reporting, and private equity reporting structures.
Experience with Avalara or similar tax automation software.
The Assistant Controller must demonstrate exceptional integrity, accountability, and a direct, collaborative communication style.
Ability to work independently and effectively prioritize competing demands in a dynamic environment.
