Position : Registered Nurse (RN) Special Procedures / Cardiac Cath Lab
Location : Valley Medical Center, Renton, WA 98055
Shift : Day / Evening, 10-hour shifts, guaranteed 40 hours per week
Duration : 12 weeks (starting 11 / 18 / 2024)

Unit Details :
- Special Procedures / Cardiac Cath Lab
- Trauma Level 3
- 3 Cath Lab suites, with a 4th under construction (completion expected March 2025)
- Hybrid OR room, with nurses rotating to CT, Ultrasound, and MRI for procedures and sedation
- Average cases : 17 Cath Lab cases per day; 22-23 across all areas and procedures
Required Experience and Certifications :
- Years of Experience : Minimum 2 years in relevant settings
- Certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
- Preferred Skills : Ventilator and pressor management in procedure rooms
Unit Tasks and Responsibilities :
- Circulate and monitor patients during procedures
- Recovery Nurses will work in a 17-bed post-procedure area and handle conscious sedation for procedures like bone marrow aspirations, bronchoscopies, and cardioversions
- Assist in various radiological areas such as CT, Ultrasound, and MRI as needed
Technologies and Equipment :
- EpicCare EMR
- GE MACLab, Siemens Xray, PACS
- Cath lab : Diagnostic, intervention, rotablator, shockwave; expanding to include Impella next year
- IR : Ports, G-tubes, drains, dialysis lines, embolizations, coiling (less frequent)
Shift Scheduling :
- Pre-procedure and Recovery : 4 ten-hour shifts (noon to 10 : 30 PM, 2 PM to 12 : 30 AM)
- Procedural nurses : 3 twelve-hour shifts (7 AM to 7 PM) or option for 4 ten-hour shifts (9 AM to 7 : 30 PM)
- On-call requirements : One night a week, every 3rd or 4th weekend, and one holiday per year
Additional Information :
- Dress Code : Scrubs provided
- Orientation : 2 weeks (depending on experience), with buddy call for 3-4 weeks
- Floating : Voluntary basis only
